Caught this on tv by accident last night for the first time ever. Loved it. Glad to find it on here

This was a very underrated show. Loved it. Many recognised faces. A nice mix of comedy, pathos and drama.

@@Neil_TheShiningMile yeah, it really stood out. It was grest to see it finally repeated late last year on BBC FOUR and to see it available on iplayer. Sadly, it will be taken down from there any time now, so get the rest watched if you haven't already.

BBC Making Out, Series 1, Episode 1 2228pm 29.11.23 dont think it was on saturday night... friday or thursday, perhaps? hmmmmmmmm..it's on BBC4. i think it'll be featured on the BBC website... if they recreated this it'd be gays and trans to the fore and would be far too overbearing to comprehend. this is the arse end of alleged gritty drama.

Wow! Firstly, a mahooosive thanks for uploading this. I have been trying desperately to see repeats of this or buy the box set fo't many years but it seems to have been overlooked by the BBC. This was one of the best drama series ever on tv a precursor to clocking off and playing the field but even better. Having just watched this as we approach 2014 making it 25 years old and it could have been released today. Thanks again it is brilliant! Xxxx

Thanks so much for uploading, the last time I saw this was when it was first broadcast. Loved this show all brilliant actors, not to mention the fact this was the first thing I saw Keith Allen (AKA Lilly & Alfie Allen's dad) in, also really loved the soundtrack too.

yay, been looking for this series for years, thought i must have imagined it. something good to watch at last instead of soaps overload, DIY, baking and antiques.

I so loved watching this on a friday night at 9.30pm back in the day.

Making Out long with The Loves and the Lives of a She-Devil, Brookside and The Widows were my favourite tv shows... I wish really the BBC would put Making Out out on DVD... Foulmouthed Margie Clarke, the forever classy Shirley Stelfox and the throbbing New Order music are just so fab. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Hi - yes - the lady doing hair was Shirley Stelfox. She played Carol May in Making Out and played Rose in Series 1 of Keeping Up Appearances but was then replaced by Mary Millar. Shirley Stelfox was a great actress but sadly died in 2015.

So many northern accents here its like i'm watching game of thrones.!

lec0roh Unfortunately the series isn't available to buy on DVD, I don't think it ever has been. That's why I was so surprised to find it on her. Where did you manage to get hold of all of these episodes?

srblundell I bought it on DVD. Do a Google search and you WILL find it on there. There are a couple of online shops selling the DVD box set, even though it hasn't been released on DVD officially.

Hi, not on here. I have the unofficial DVD box set, you can order them at foundthatfilm.co.uk . Quality isn't great (and they sent me the wrong DVDs, had to email them to re-send) but it's the only place you can get them. You should order it.

It’s a shame it ended so abruptly with season 3. I wanted to know what happened with Pauline and the other girls. Does the book end like that as well? It’s how I got into New Order and was one of my all time fave shows. Watched it with my nan. Had quite a crush on Keith Allen aka sexy rexy lol 😍

Hiya - I've got the book. The book is basically Series 1 in a novel, pretty much series 1 word for word. Actually, on the back of the book it says "now a popular TV series" so it would suggest that the book came before the TV series. I agree with you about series 3, there were so many storylines (especially Pauline, which wod have obviously been a sad ending) that could have been followed up in. Indeed, our Margi herself has often said that she wished that more Making Out had been made. It's good they put it on iPlayer, certainly not before time, either.

@@corinnevanessa22 yes indeed, agreed on all counts! Yeah you should try and purchase the book, I got mine from Amazon. Have you seen Margi's interview yet on iPlayer? It's pretty good, but like the series, I wish there was more of it! 🙂 I'm also re-watching series 1 as it's being re-aired on BBC FOUR, there are another few episodes on next Wednesday (15th). I'm hoping there will be series 2 and 3 re-aired as well, especially series 3 as that's never been repeated. It's funny but even though I've seen it, it was a real novelty actually watching it ON TV, and even seeing it in the TV listings seemed special! 🙂

Where is this set? Im from the North West and i can`t figure out where it is.

Hi, the mill where they work is on Park Road in Dukinfield. Much of the series is also filmed around Dukinfield and Stalybridge and Ashton-under-Lyne.

This, Series 1, was made in 1989. Series 2 aired in 1990 and the final series 3, the following year in 1991. 😉

Brilliant. 35 years ago. Things have changed so much. The way Sally was spoken about her age would never be allowed these days and the girls fellas, jeez some of em are right whining twerps. Jill's bloke was a pain in the backside Pauline's a nasty brute.

Brill drama. Poor Klepto with her horrible family. I couldnt get to grips with Keith Allen and Carol May. Was she 20 years older than him? Chunky made me laugh. Him in his Y fronts! And those tortoises!

hoopenhanger I am sure you will find this is a highly rated drama (and a comedy one to boot) about bleak factory humdrum life in Manchester suburbs. Doesn't take much of an education to figure it out, also doesn't take much of an education to know you come across as a xenophobe.
