BBC 1 Globe c1970 (Mock)

Genuine footage of an earlier version of the globe from around 1970. Again with added music IIRC sometimes used before the start of programmes.

Well, it's five past nine and nearly time for six past nine. On BBC 2 now it'll shortly be six and a half minutes past nine. Later on this evening it'll be ten o'clock and at 10.30 we'll be joining BBC 2 in time for 10.33, and don't forget tomorrow when it'll be 9.20. Those of you who missed 8.45 on Friday will be able to see it again this Friday at a quarter to nine. Now here is a time check. It's six and a half minutes to the big green thing.

The first piece still feels strangely contemporary today. The second, well I'm a sucker for that 1970s production, it sounds glorious even if totally dated.

Very groovy! What's the first piece called? Sounds like something from the Radiophonic Workshop?

Hi, I don't know the title, I found it on an audio cassette. I believe it is from the Radiophonic Workshop. Both pieces of music were sometimes used before the start of programmes. Thanks.

Hi, The second piece of music is from a CD called The Full Montage, by The Lucy Reeve Big Band. It contains 20+ tracks of various arrangements based on the BBC chimes from the 60's. Some of which used to be played before the start of programmes. The music was written by Ronnie Hazlehurst, who also wrote the themes from The Two Ronnies & Last of the Summer Wine, amongst many others. Cheers.

@@siddn The first piece of music you may be interested to know is called "Science Notes" by Paul Clark (BBC Radiophonic Workshop) and was mainly used by BBC One Wales for their schools opt outs.
