This was the first time I was legitimately unsettled in any video. The first 3 minutes were incredibly genius! You don't know why the father is laughing so much, yet all you know is it keeps his daughter awake all night. You notice that he laughs at the least funny things, and then Sheldon stares at the screen when her father is asleep and no one laughs, but you don't realize why. When the moment you realize that to keep this creepy TV monster away from you, is to sound entertained with laughs, your heart sinks as you will have to keep laughing to stall the beast. That is what is so genius about this. So unsettling and an incredible sense of horror. You get these bits and clues at the beginning, and it is genius, and the payoff is terrifying. You have to be conscious every moment to laugh. You must laugh every moment to stall. It is helpless to do it forever. You can't stall forever. You need to sleep, your throat hurts. Imagine being the daughter, and the psychological torture she goes through. How the reaction to joy and happiness twists into a crutch to stall. How laughing is twisted into a necessity to stay alive. Genuinely unsettling!

Dude, the concept here of using fake laughter to keep a monster from attacking you, but the monster is a sitcom character, is literally genius. I want it to be in a videogame. Stuff like this, where you have a mechanic to either stun the monster, or block its perception of you, is so much fun.

What's really goofy is there's unironically an episode where Sheldon breaks into a woman's room and does a deep voice because he thinks some evo-psych bullshit will help him sneak around easier. Meaning he could have actually gone harder by making it a 'demonic deep voice' and it would have been more fitting... but then it wouldn't be as recognizable, I think. As someone who casually saw most of the show, Sheldon does a lot of horrible creepy shit throughout the series. Never forget there's a scene where Sheldon looks at a black woman, says she's a "slave to her female impulses", then reiterates "Yup. You're a slave." There's WAY more to work with in this show than you'd ever expect, lol. Woman: (panicking) "Wha- what are you doing Sheldon...? Ah- haha... why are you blocking the door?" Sheldon: (deep creepy Meatcanyon voice) "Oh, nothing at all... I just thought it was time for... (deep breath) a nude revenge wiggle...." Woman: "Oh god- no! Please don't-!" Sheldon: "Youu were in myyyy spoooottttt....... Noowwww suffferrrrr....." (pulls out a case full of dead moths)

My mother loves Big Bang Theory and she’s always like, “You’d love Big Bang Theory, it’s such a smart show. Right up your alley.” Because I’m a very analytical and quiet person so apprently I’d relate to the funny nerd comedy. From what I’ve see of it it’s just basic sitcom jokes centered around talks of science or the ideas of being a nerd, but not really centered around clever comedy that flies over some peoples heads. Futurism’s is my go to for stuff like that. I’m not gonna pretend like it’s a super intellectual show for smart people or anything like that. It’s mostly just stupid funny jokes that anyone could find funny, but there’s also a bunch of pokes and nods to scientific/psychological concepts that they throw in there as parts of jokes and that’s just the cherry on top that makes it such an enjoyable show. I feel like Futurama uses referential comedy in that aspect while the Big Bang Theory uses science in a more situational comedy or critique of the culture surrounding it instead of the concepts itself. Maybe I’m completely off base, I never got into the series, so I have no idea. I never though I liked referential humor, but now I realize that’s just with references to shows or celebrities. When it’s something I actually care about and have put effort into learning it can be pretty funny and I guess validating of my interests. I don’t know. Like, I respect referential humor about celebrities or just well known people. I don’t keep track of all that and I suck with names, but seeing some people can keep track of so many names and faces makes me kind of jealous. I guess I’m a more conceptual person while some people are more socially inclined.
