Baylor was the only team in the country with a defense good enough to slow down Gonzaga’s all time great offense. Coming from a Zag fan Baylor earned this win. Baylor honestly has the best defense that any college basketball team has had in the last decade

@@lilpenny1982 It was obviously just an expression about the Gonzaga player getting crossed up and left in the dust by the Baylor player. That announcer has used that one before, if you ever watch college basketball.

Gonzaga wins every regular season game by 20 points. Then they get into the tournament and start playing real teams. Games get closer, and they eventually lose. Happens every time. Baylor was just insane though, so much talent.

This is what I was thinking. It's hard to simulate playing a team like Baylor. They try to schedule good out of conference teams and recruit very well but at the end of the day these big conference schools have twice the level of competition in conference.

UCLA exposed the Zags. It should have been a Baylor/UCLA Title game. If it was we would have seen a MUCH Better title game. Baylor would have been to much for UCLA in the end. But UCLA are a well coached team playing much better teams in the regular season. Baylor are just another monster altogether. I'm glad they won. Makes my Villanova loss more bearable seeing they lost to the eventual Champions!

@@TulsaSooner1979 Oklahoma State's (as Oklahoma A&M) championships were back in the 40's when only 8 teams made the whole tourney, but you are right that the Big 12 has more than just Kansas, and was likely the overall 2nd deepest conference in the NCAA this year.

Zag fan almost all my life. That was embarrassing. 4+ players on Baylor's team are NBA level. Hats off to Baylor. What a team.

I think a lot of it was that tough game Gonzaga had the other night against UCLA. Gonzaga looked tired halfway through the first half. Baylor had a cake walk that day, and their game was over hours earlier.

I’m a Kansas fan and I’m glad Scott Drew got one (National Title). He’s an awesome dude and had an awesome team this past year. Glad to see a fellow conference opponent win a title for the entire conference. To all Baylor fans, congrats on a GREAT season and your going to have fun watching the NBA Draft this year, seeing where your (former) players land. Davion Mitchell is a lottery pick if you ask me... There’s no conference out there as tough and grueling as the Big 12 and those who would mention the ACC or Big 10.... there’s no Conference like the Big 12 where you get to play home AND away against EVERY team in the conference. It's unreal! Kansas Jayhawks & Baylor Bears LITERALLY both had their redemptions after 2020 NCAA Tournament was cancelled. Because they were by a decent margin the 2 best teams in country March 2020.

Reminds me of 2008 KU, 2009 North Carolina, 2012 Kentucky, and 2018 Villanova. Teams you saw that were dominant year round, but you knew they were about to thoroughly dominate in the NCAA tournament. Although 2012 Kentucky and 2008 KU were the most dominant teams in the last 20 years that I've personally seen. For KU to beat Memphis's Derrick Rose and the dominant AF 2008 North Carolina to win the National title is amazing. 2012 Kentucky just wasnt fair, so good defensively that they didnt need shooters, that was their weakness. 2012 Kentucky had what 4 players go top 20 in the draft the following year? Baylor probably 5th behind 2018 Villanova.

Baylor had All 3 Guards that are Agile, Explosive, Quick off the dribble that can create there own shot and get to the rim at will. Gonzaga struggled with containing or slowing them down.

I’m so happy for scott drew, he has established them as a true basketball force to be reckoned with. I'm so glad Gonzaga lost they play in a trash conference against trash competition and get a easy path to the NCAA tournament every season. Oh I'm so glad that Gonzaga lost not only did they lose they got demolished. Hay Mark few remember late in the USC game when you were up by 30 with like 3 minutes ago and you still had your starters in running up the score? how does it taste now. I Can't believe people really thought this team was some unbeatable Juggernaut. They were only were undefeated because they play in a garbage competition in the WCC. I'm surprised they even made it to the title game this team is not athletic at all and their slow. Gonzaga will never win a national championship and beating up on Pepperdine, LMU, Portland, Pacific, St Mary's, San Francisco, San Diego and any other trash teams in that conference doesn't mean anything.

As a Zag fan I agree 100%. Baylor was truly the one team that could honestly beat the Zags even if the Zags were at their best. Tonight Baylor punched Gonzaga in the mouth early and the Zags seemed a bit fatigued and off because of that crazy UCLA game and never found a way to build momentum. Not that the UCLA game is an excuse you still got to show up for the national title game and Baylor played their best basketball and earned this win. Wish these teams could play a seven game series 😂

The way Baylor ran thru the field I Don't even think Zaga got exposed tbh...This was just Baylor being Baylor, you simply can't prepare for that type of depth and experience....

Rather, Gonzaga got exposed in the Final 4 game against UCLA, getting all they could handle from an eleven seed that barely made the tournament. Baylor played a perfect championship game defensively, effort wise, and while shooting lights out. Baylor would have bested anyone with that performance.

if you put the ZAGS in the PAC they will own that conference...they do recruit well..they'd probably recruit even better if they were in a power 5

@@craigcarson9034 Good, then their relative cakewalks in the WCC can come to an end. Let them start from the get-go with programs on their level. Being in the WCC has always given them an advantage many other programs don't have in highly competitive conferences.

This Baylor team is up there with '09 North Carolina and '18 Villanova as the only national champions I have seen who swept through the NCAA tournament without ever being in any danger of losing any of the 6 games. Very quietly one of the most dominant championship runs.

This Baylor team was the best team I seen in a long time and I think it will be overshadowed because of the Gonzaga hype. What everybody thought Gonzaga was, it was Baylor all along.

@@unbiascowboy1537 I think they could have gone undefeated (against a MUCH tougher schedule than Zaga had) if not for the 3-week downtime they had when COVID interrupted their season in February.

@@walterlv01 I agree 100 percent! Baylor were head and shoulders above everybody until the covid pause. In the tournament they got back to their old selfs.

Butler, Mitchell and Teague torched the Zags. Thamba was a beast...

Scott Drew for Baylor is a great coach.

Nothing makes me happier than the moment every year that Gonzaga (and their fans) are brought back down to Earth.

I was actually rooting for Baylor to win the tournament! I’ll root for the Zags next year if that’s where Chet Holmgren commits to

Baylor- Quicker, more athletic and hitting their 3`s. 45 lookin GooD !

Teague is a very solid player. He also went to my high school!

These highlights make the game look closer than it ever was. Gonzaga was on their heels the whole night. Came to be anointed and got completely exposed.

Amazing performance by Baylor! They played a nearly a perfect game, hats off to those men.

and it should’ve been (and that’s coming from someone that wanted Gonzaga to lose), first the NFL, now College basketball, we get a pre-closer to the season that’s the game of the year (Gonzaga vs. UCLA, Bucs vs. Packers) then we get treated to a lousy championship (this game and Bucs vs. Chiefs)

People forgot how good they were because they went on a month covid pause and had to get players back healthy and in shape. But Baylor should’ve been undefeated as well and they played in a way harder conference.

Best Defensive team and Don’t sleep on Baylor. First NCAA championship in School History and The first team from the state of Texas to win the NCAA championship since Texas Western/UTEP in 1966

One year later and I still come back to watch this special BAYLOR BEAR 🐻 group dominate from beginning to end. Who else could tell Jim Nance, Grant Hill and Bill Raftery were really rooting for GONZAGA? Baylor came out on fire 🔥 and punched those ZAGS and announcers right in their collective mouths 😅 As well as any other doubters that day 😅 Gonzaga hadn’t even seen a team as fast and athletic as these Baylor Bears 🐻 Congrats 🍾 🎉🏀 again guys you earned it!

As a fellow UTEP alum, I dream of what could have been had Gary Payton had come to UTEP. He wanted to be a Miner, but Haskins passed on him. They could have made a Final Four in the early 90s with Hardaway and The Glove in the backcourt.

@@craigcarson9034 They’re overrated. They play in an easy division with no real challenge. They collapse when they face real pressure as the last two games proved. They felt entitled to it, they bought into their own hype, and they deserved to lose. Sorry you’re so mad bro.

Reality check: playing in an easy conference doesn’t prepare you for big games like this. Baylor had tough competition the whole year in the big-12 and when the moment came they were ready to capture. Gonzaga expected an easy game because most games they played this season were easy. They look unprepared and out of sorts on defense.

8 man rotation pretty amazing and Butler's play after half when zag's tried too make a run was great and relentless defense for me was exciting to see

@@lukebuchwald9252 I don't think it was the hype as much as Baylor was just a much better team. Baylor had been putting up better numbers against better teams all tournament, but everyone was so focused on the Zags that it went unnoticed.
