I have a small engine repair shop. I bought one of these for taking apart hand held equipment on the workbench. It’s perfect. Small, light weight, more than strong enough. The flashlight is stupid and useless. I put a 1/4” socket adapter in it so I can use any of my sockets and my Torx bits. Love this tool.

I've got a similar pistol grip style low power screw driver that I keep in my "indoor tool bag". Basically the same idea, i have a set of really cheap tools for basic issues around the house so I don't have to run out to the garage to change a light switch cover. I really like having the low power screwdriver and it gets used as often as my 18v driver.

Very nice . 2nd to my craftsman pistol grip that has the torque setting , the forward and reverse is in the trigger , not separate . It also has a pull to release 1/4 inch chuck . The forward reverse is great when you are installing a bunch of dash screws that don't always go straight . That being said , with the price it does seem to be a perfect kitchen drawer tool .

Definitely the same item as the PerforMax driver that Menards used to sell. Only difference is the color and trim design, and the switch for the flashlight is changed. The PerforMax light is switched by pressing the light lens directly, no visible slide like the Bauer. The charge life is pretty darn good, I just charged mine up for the 3rd time since February, and I'm using it a few times a week on my job. Portability is important, must be light and small enough to carry with my other hand tools.

Was at HF an hour age, still didn't find this. Bought the Bauer 90° drill and the best find, the Admiral 5" sand paper. I have tones of diablo, stock up on every sale they have here as it's the best I can find in this town, until this stuff. It is thicker, sands faster, easy to line up the holes on the pad, seems to wear better, probably since it seems to be twice as thick compared to diablo. Not having a great selection of sand paper here, I am quite excited about this. Offers a good range of grits 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150 and 220, in the 5 inch hook and loop, I hope they have belts, forgot to look?

Bad Harbor freight experience today. I wanted to get a drywall screwgun as i’m doing some remodeling. I looked on the website, sure enough, they had a bauer one, $49.99. It’s the kind of situation that is a perfect application for a HF tool-may not get used again for years. I knew Homeless Despot had a rigid one for $59.99. At $10 difference, The difference in price was so low, that i would buy the rigid because i perceive it to be a better built, better backed tool. But I had a super coupon for 20% off, bringing the HF one down to $40, which is enough savings to settle for the HF one. So, i proudly walk into my HF this morning, coupon in hand, pick up the screwgun, head to the checkout...and get told the coupon doesnt work on power tools. Huh. Put the tool back on the shelf, and drove across the parking lot to the depot (literally, they share the same parking lot) and bought the rigid. Guess the super coupon aint all that super. Btw, drove about a million drywall screws today with the rigid...it was a blast.

The Den of Tools No argument at all with that. I didnt read the tiny little print on the coupon, and when he told me it wouldnt work I assumed it was a carve out that was listed there. Didnt give the guy any grief, just put it back and went to HD. Caveat Emptor, right? It just strikes me as odd that they have usage exceptions for the coupon other than whats already on sale. And to be fair to HF, the “bad experience” was limited to me not getting what i wanted at the price i thought i was going to get. But i reserve the right to be butt hurt about it. 😉

I'd really like my miter saw to double as a flashlight (but only if the blade is disabled when the flashlight is turned on---safety first!). Shop vac too. Maybe DeWalt and Mag-Lite can join forces to create a combination table-saw/flashlight. :-) Love the Den of Tools!

I think it needs to be priced at $15 with the best coupon price being say $10. I agree that an analog trigger would be ideal. The other thing is make it possible to turn on the forward facing LED independent of the trigger or make the trigger so slightly depressing it turns on the led but not the motor. If you actually needed the light to find the screw, the current setup is kind of useless. My only real reservation is that unless you do a lot of......tasks requiring a screwdriver, you could just as easily use a regular screwdriver with the changable tips and not worry about stripping out screws and not have to worry about a battery or the space this takes up.

  • @nonolabs

I was going to say what I see wrong with it was many of the things you listed. Then you said it was less than $20. Well what do you expect for that money. I would rather pay a little more for those options myself though. I also don't really care for rechargeable tools. Everytime I use one and the battery dies you have to plug it in and it's out of service and useless. I would rather have one I can just pop a dead battery out and put a new one in and keep going. HF really is upping their game. It's just to bad I'm already invested in other lines of tools.

  • @scottsamber4234

    @scottsamber4234

    5 жыл бұрын

@keith moore The reason I was wondering is that I have quite a few Riobi 4Tek (4V) power tools and the charger that comes with each one takes 6- 8 hours to charge. That is way too long even with those being removable/swappable and I bought a bunch of extra batteries. What saved them from never being used to being used nearly every day I work is that I bought a quick charger that charges 2 batteries at a time in less than an hour, and I don't think I have ever been able to kill a battery in one single day's use. So between the extra batteries I can swap out and the quick charger keeping all the extra's at the ready, I'm kinda happy with my Ryobi set up. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the torque or lack thereof, but then again it has a 2-speed transmission so those long screws zoom right in. It's very unfortunate that Ryobi discontinued many of the 4Tek tool line up. They had a tiny personal radio/mp3 player, inspection scope, USB charger, a few different screw-guns, self-leveling plumb laser, assorted flashlights and LED work lights, and more! Now they only offer a few.

@@denoftools This is what I found right from the Bauer's owner's manual. "The Battery’s capacity will increase somewhat during the first few charging cycles. A fully discharged Battery will take about 3 to 5 hours to fully charge. Recharging the Battery for more than 5 hours can damage the battery cells." Not very common for lithium batteries because they should not be able to be over-charged. Maybe this Bauer drill is Ni-Cad rather than Lithium. Like you pointed out, they do not have a battery meter and the LED to show it is charging does not change color or turn off to show it is done charging. You have to take note of how long it is charging and just give it ample time with no way of actually knowing it is fully charged. I am not sure how Ryobi's included (slow) charger works but the quick charger has a 3 LED battery meter for each of the 2 batteries to see when it is completed.

If they could double the RPM's, add the USB input for charging the battery, and made the trigger variable speed and it was $30, I'd buy one. Would I still buy it for $16 in its current state? Yeah, sure, when I get sick of turning screws by hand. One thing I must wonder is how long the battery is going to last when it's clearly not a tool that's going to be used daily. I would hate having to buy a new one every 3 to 5 years.

welllllll...... since there is no such thing as a 4v lithium-ion battery.... 3.7v is what it is.... rounding off voltage??... nitpicking maybe, but fact nonetheless.....

4v ? What is the point? Even 12v is a waste. Why anyone would buy or use anything less than 18v makes no sense

I disagree. Not sure about this 4v screwdriver but 12v is perfect for some applications. I do HVAC service and I keep a 12v Milwaukee impact in my bag. Its perfect for removing and installing panels and for driving the occasional screw. Plus it’s light and compact so it fits nicely in my bag. If I was an installer and I was driving 1000 screws a day, I’d go with an 18v but for what I do, 12v is perfect.

@@MrKannon9 i did car audio for over 15 years and now work on boats. The whole time ive done electronic repair. Honestly with an 18v impact and drill with the aid of a skewdriver there isnt anything i havent been able to do. inside doors, dash speakers, under dash of boat or car. All the way up to 20 cubic ft. Speaker boxes with a hundred 2" screws. That combo does it all. But still a 4v seems like a waste

Office machine tech here. I'm dealing with tapped machine screws mostly, often many holding single covers that must be removed. A 18V or 20V impact driver will strip out or damage anything I am driving if not careful, and pay a penalty in weight and space big time. I'm using a different brand version of this Bauer and it does the job fine, charge lasts for a couple weeks or so with use.
