Svartalfa is by far the most interesting of the ProtoMechs, Glider design, frankly one comes close enough to being called a LAM without calling it. That sucker can fly and use it's movement to keep from being hit, thing like ultra light battlemech. Ultraheavy Protomech is what actually called weight class wise. Additionally, these things don't operate by themselves, usually a Point (smallest formation above one machine) is 5 ProtoMechs, usually same type. Picture 25 of these things attacking typical Clan point of 5. it be would certainly an industry fight. Thanks again, Grim for the video.

Here we go again with clan „brillant” invetions ... and the inner sphere just makes an ligth mech for the same price.

Oddly enough, I actually think the Society protomechs look pretty good and fit into the look of the setting pretty damn well. Another quality video GDN, and thanks for reading my comments.

Of all protomechs, I like the Society designs by far the most. I don't really care for most of the others and I absolutely *loath* some of them.

These protomechs are quite interesting with the biggest limiting factors being the EI system. Get past that and the directions for differing designs skyrocket. I kinda like the movie monster look a bit more than the society's look besides the quad ones. They look more interesting to me rather than being another bulky robot.

I just can't see the advantage of protomechs seems like a product of the EXTREME 1990s ( which as a 90s kid i loved) but give me a regular battlemech any day. Especially my BRZ-A3 Breserker

Hello Grim. Another fine video and a good series of the same. I found them interesting, even though I don't play Proto-Mechs. I sort of 'drew the line' short of Proto-Mechs for a couple of reasons. First, they were used against me without my having recourse to field anything similar, and the resulting 'slap down' battles were infuriating. The other reason is more my 'style', being more logical in nature. Battle Armor makes sense. Mechs really don't, but they are cool, so fine. Proto-Mechs, I perceived as being 'how can I abuse the game system so I can win since I am an idiot at Tactics'. By the time Proto-Mechs were a 'thing' in the game, I had been concentrating on Real Life issues and didn't play the game at all, let alone as often as I had previously. I missed out on this, Dark Age, and the Jihad... for the better, I think.

And to think. Those proto mecha are roughly the same size as gundams. Imagine a gundam going against an actual mech

Didn’t they have a few mechs the size of a small moon? Gundam burning fist most likely created a lot of folk with odd feelings about latex suits now that I think about it.

The protomechs are really interesting in that they're very specialized tools for very specific circumstances. I think it would have been interesting to see Inner Sphere versions of these things.

I have a question for you GDN? Who do you think would win in a war between the humans of Battletech or the Covenant of Halo? You may use different era's from I there.

It would probably come to numbers as far as the actual battles go. I'd say the Covenant has many decisive advantages. Battlemechs would probably win on the ground if there were enough of them and commanded well, since the the covenant doesn't have much against them outside of their own heavy vehicles. But Covenant technology is much more flexible and their units more fluid. There's also the fact that Battletech is "realistic" when it comes to the science of space travel, deploying units on planets, etc. The covenant can just blink 100 warships anywhere they want and glass the planet. Battletech doesn't have much that can stand against the covenant in space. At the end of the day, battles on the ground could go either way depending on various factors, but the covenant can just bring supercarriers and glass planets with impunity anyway.

Not a fan of the protomech designs. It's like they wanted fantasy monsters in Battletech.
