The Jake thing was actually a quite funny history.. back in the day after S3 wraped and Jake wasnt seen anymore fans began a joke campaign in forums and stuff about bringing back Jake the true hero of the resistance wich as far as anyone knew had been left behind in New Caprica... so they brought back him here for fans.. including the whole resistance hero thing (he is not the same exact dog btw)

Sine quon non… I knew this one was coming eventually I met my best friend 30 yrs ago this year She had to leave us going on 3 yrs now We found our common bond in SiFi and music I first found your channel looking for a way to relive some memories forged with her Found you reacting to Firefly and felt all the emotions through you again Thanks for that Then you started your journey with BSG, another of our very favorites Eventually I subscribed and came along for the ride I gotta say I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly as well I just found out you reacted to The Expanse Mind blown, I confess I’ve been reliving that now too We finished that one the year she left us… like the Admiral reading his book to Roslyn it was a comfort and a distraction for us which helped us pretend temporarily that she wasn’t sick Honestly it’s still comforting seeing those great stories through someone else’s eyes again so thank you once again 😊 Just wanted you to know what you do is meaningful in a world where meaning seems lacking sometimes for some

I find myself excited and not excited about these reactions in season 4. It’s not about the quality of the show or of this channel, it’s just that every next episode is that much closer to the finale. This show occupied such a special place in my life at a time when I was just figuring life out. If there’s one thing I learned as a life lesson though, it’s to never piss off Edward James Olmos, his gaze can be absolutely withering

Wonderful as always Angela (and Xander - we appreciate you too), all I have to add to your thoughts is that it's Eddie's *delivery* when he said "I can't live without her" that makes it work. There's no drama in it. He makes the statement in the same way he gives explanations - no emotion - just the facts. So for that sentence to come out of his mouth, in that tone? He's just stating a fact. He's always remained true to "it's not enough to live, you have to have something to live for", and this tells us that for him, that thing is Laura. 😭

McCreary’s scores are always amazing with all the themes and grand compositions but he can also do so much with less; at the end of this episode watching the fleet jump away leaving Adama alone then the camera pulling back while the music thins out, like each instrument is also jumping away until all we are left with before cut is one lonely drum beat and one lonely raptor.

The human Cylons are new with this BSG and the story behind them. The episode where you learn more is about to come up but at this point you really don't understand what the Cylons are and to think they are just one thing would be incorrect. We are approaching the end and trying to get all the story and explanations up is going to be quick and you have to pay attention or you will miss it. After all the times watching the final season I pick up something new every time. The full explanation of the Cylons is a bit tricky if you miss anything.

the writer of the episode Michael Taylor and the showrunner Ronald D Moore had a somewhat lukewarm evaluation of this episode, at the time of the original airing they felt it didn't really gel, so some of the continuity issues with Lee becoming president and Adm. Adama resigning might point to somes production/writing issues for sure. The showrunners of BSG were rather open about the fact that deadlines tended to get tight at the end of seasons and that writers would sometimes struggle to deliver in time for production.

Wish they had explored the individualized Cylons a little bit more, and what happens as a new, but biologically and intellectually mature being grows into some emotional maturity. Natalie, Gina and even Shelly Godfrey seemed very different from the Caprica/Head 6 sort. There was the nice contrast between Boomer and Athena, but they could have done so much more. And it would have been so rewarding to see more with the D'Annas and Leobens. At this point the demarcation between Human and Cylon has narrowed to near vanishing point. Watching Natalie and Cottle in that moment - there isn't much space between them beyond the few different compounds in their cells that Gaius' Cylon detector found. Do Cylons dream of electric sheep?

about the admiral, in modern series with 8-12 episodes and 1-3 seasons you usually cannot have that kind of character development anymore, that is what I really love about the show, it still had the time to breathe, let its characters evolve, make you feel for them, make you want to follow them. nowadays a season or series is done before you can even form some kind of emitional connection, making you care less if someone dies for example. and then you have to wait 2 years for another handful of 30min episodes. that is, e.g., why I prefer SW animation over all the live action series, just think of the time we spend with the rebels crew though these were 25 min episodes, look at was CW has done or at what badbatch is achieving right now. took me two season to get in, notw im fully hooked, even though its sad its the last season. still, we had around 16 episodes per season, even more with rebels. I dont mind lower special effects quality or less CGI (they always say more than 8 eps is too expensive). give me a damn good story with well written dialogues and character development and some speace shit now and then, like andor at least tried to do.

I wish I didn't understand Admiral Adama's desperate need to be reunited with Roslyn. My relationship lasted exactly 18 years to the day. She met my replacement while TDY on the anniversary of the day we met. It took me 19 years to get over her. I came close a decade earlier when I met someone who loved me back, but that relationship ended when she was sexually assaulted by one of her friends. It changed her, I never blamed her for that, it wasn't her fault. But life can be brutal, and loving. People is always a risk of being disappointed or betrayed. You can only be betrayed by someone you care about, some when you don't care about cannot betray you, they just hurt you. I felt like I was lost in the universe, I had great friends, I have two amazing kids who love me very much and that kept me going, but losing someone you love. Who is your best friend is an insurmountable pain. I don't know if anyone has told you this, but they are best friends. At a comic Con here more than a decade ago, Edward James Olmos took his seat for a panel my son was at. From behind the curtain, Mary McDonall came out and put her hands over his eyes and said guess who. They ended up doing the panel together. The whole cast is close, but when you're watching this series you can see how close they really are by the end. I hope you find a love like that, but that yours lasts forever.

Starbuck's return is the only thing that is blatantly, completely impossible based on the available evidence, with a ready-made explanation for the only rational reason it IS possible (being a Cylon). I'm not surprised they can't believe her. Saying you have faith and embracing moments of destiny is one thing, accepting the impossible when it's never really happened like that before is another.

As far as the fight between Tigh and Adama goes, I have a friend that was a bartender in a bar with a fairly young crowd. And he'd tell me all the time how there'd be fights between guys all the time and the very next night they'd be playing pool 🎱 with each other. Whereas if two chicks had a fight over one of their boyfriends and then were barred from the bar for a while, even if that ban was for six months, if they saw each other after that time, they'd just go right back at each other again. Even if the one with the boyfriend wasn't going out with him anymore 😂😂😂 For some reason guys just don't take fights that personal.

While I'm thinking about it, I wanted to suggest that you react to Carprica and to BSG: Blood and Chrome. When Caprica came out, it was released poorly and lost its viewership and only got a single season. It was also ahead of its time since it covered topics like virtual reality, artificial intelligence (specifically generative AI) and humanoid robots. In 2010, those topics were too "out there" or "bleeding edge" to draw a real audience. But fast forward to 2024 and the all the ideas and terminology used in Caprica has become daily news and common parlance. I mean, have you seen the new Figure 1 humanoid robot with AI? That thing is basically a Cylon prototype. LOL And seeing Adama in that flight suit reminded me of Blood and Chrome as its set shortly after the 1st Cylon attack when Bill Adama is a young man. He's a pilot who was every bit as crazy as Starbuck (maybe crazier). LOL Anyway, Blood and Chrome has so much quality space shit I'm pretty sure you'd love it. :)

In this case Athena's masters are her responsibility for her daughter, and her promise to serve and obey the fleet and chain of command. This applies to Helo and Chief as well. You may want balance but each demands to be first. Current American society is not more necessarily enlightened. We simply have the infrastructure and systems to indulge in a LUXURY of having spouses and children on or near a base (or on ship).

The Quorum of the Twelve was a bad idea before the fall, as it primarily focused on the interests of the major colonies. After the fall it was a terrible idea, because it again focused on issues that did not address the concerns of the majority of the people. We see a perfect idea of this when the chief shuts down the Tylium refinery. Everybody wants fuel. Everybody needs fuel. Nobody cares about the plight of the refinery crew. By that same token, however, the Tylium crew care nothing about the plights of the crew of live stock ships, or the crew of the sewage recycling ship. Another example was Sarah Porter, the Quorum delegate from Gemenon. When Roslin refuses to grant the Gemenese extra water, above what everyone else was getting, she supports Tom Zarak's nomination to VP to spite Roslin. She again butts heads with Roslin over the fate of Rya Kibby regarding her abortion, because the Gemenese believe abortion is murder. The Gemenese are also the most spiritual of the colonies and so she is the most vocal supporter of Roslin, once Roslin claims to be the dying leader spoken of by Pythia in the ancient scrolls. Miracles are just things that science has yet to provide an answer for. Most of the colonists are rational beings. I watched you die, therefore you are dead. Cylons look like humans, and can resurrect, therefore Starbuck is a Cylon. 1 + 2 = 3. There may be other elements to the equation that they haven't seen yet, but from their stand point, trusting Starbuck is a huge risk, and huge risks are things you can't afford when dealing with the survival of a species. You always, always default to the safe option, because if you are wrong and people die, then it is too late to say, "Oops. Got that one wrong." Adama gave Starbuck a chance, but also didn't go, "Hell yeah, I trust you. Because you are like a daughter to me." He took a small risk, but was prepared to deal with the consequences if he was wrong. The fleet was ready to jump, and the Galactica was ready to fight. Let me put this another way. Travel back in time to when bows and arrows were considered advanced tech. Then show the people of this time a firearm. Then use it to kill someone or something. To us we know it is a projectile being expelled by a chemical reaction, and interupting vital organs from functioning. To those people from the past however, you harnessed the power of thunder (the bang when the weapon is fired), and killed someone or something without laying a hand on them. To those people, you performed a miracle. You are a god. The more technologically advanced a species gets, the less they believe in miracles. This also feeds into my earlier points about the Quorum being a bad idea. The Gemenese believe in a literal interpretation of the Sacred Scrolls, and is why many of the other colonials see them as backward. The Sagitarons view medicine as a sinful thing and by and large avoid it, even when it is in their, and everyone else's, best interests. This is why the Sagitaron's get a lot of stick. Aerelon is the food basket of the colonies, and why Gaius Baltar worked so hard to shed his accent, because of how others see him. Taurons are often still refered to as "Dirt Eaters" because of their farming background. This is despite the fact that in the last 40+ years they have advanced technologically to be one of the most advanced, and richest, colonies. The Vergis Corporation, a Tauron based tech company, played a significant role in the creation of the Cylons. Taurons are seen by most as being one of the top four colonies, but the other three, still see them as subsistance farmers.

I disagree with your analysis of the Athena-Six incident. Six had already taken Hera once. And the 8 model, "Boomer" has already turned on her model number. Knowing what the Cylons are capable of, and not knowing Six's intentions (we knew it was a distraction), for Athena to see Hera drawing the number 6, and pictures of Six, and then to see the two of them together after the visions, you understand why Athena shot and killed hr

Selective miracle acceptance is annoying. Adama is still an admiral, he's just not in command of the fleet. Position and rank are different things. What I liked about the fight was that when they were done, they just moved on. Olmos could make anyone cry. Regarding the pregnancy, the Final 5 are special. Who knows what's possible for them? We again see demonstrated that a military commander has to be able to make snap decisions in the heat of the moment in order to command, but those decisions can, and should, be revisited as time allows. Adama has military control and Roslyn has political control because they agreed on that. Both refuse to give it up. Right decision? Yes. Democratic? No. I view Athena killing Six as more drama for drama's sake.

mmm...yeah, there's a point on believing in miracles, but at this point, all of this miracles have been science, human or cylon actions, and visions that could still be just madness or drug indused. Not once it has been a magical type of miracle where an exploding ship is suddenly rebuilt and a pilot that clearly died is suddenly alive. Not saying you're wrong, but the characters in the show have no reason whatsoever to believe this is anything new, the probabilities are reduced to "Apolo got it wrong, he didn't saw the ship explode, and she went through some galactic phenomena...or she is another cylon"...arkham razor, she probably is a cylon. Not one single human in this show would believe in Jesus resurrecting either....Some cylons migth thou.
