I've never heard of having to tell the opponent which ship was hit, only until it's sunk. It makes it more interesting to not know how many more hits it would take or what direction to send the next shots

Watching Blair not go for the kill was painful. Get his ships out of the way so he has fewer shots.

I have never played battleship any of these ways! We play you guessed until you missed (so 1-infinite number of guesses) and you were told which ones were hits but not what they hit until that ship was sank.

They played with the rules from the booklet. You may have played like we did growing up - on a piece of paper with a pen with a folder in between to hide each others' papers

Having watched this for the third time, I think that the best matchup may be Dom v Rosie, using the Salvo Rules without information. I really think they would both unravel in such a wonderful way.

It's so fun to see you play these kind of classic casual games because the house rules seem to be so different. Just like in UNO, we've played battleships with your Normal rules but with an addition that if you get a hit, you can continue. This gives a bit of reward for hitting and gives an opportunity for a late game hail mary comeback which are always fun.

Two thoughts: 1) "Sploosh" should officially replace "Miss". It's so much more fun to say. 2) I really like that Luke says "Smeg". Top Dwarfing, sir.

If Blair was playing at all seriously she would have thanos snapped Luke in her round because she had three of his ships and could have just focused fire.

Another video that I just loved and I’m not sure why

My tactic has always been getting one shot every two squares like colouring a checkboard on just blacks, this until you find the small boat and then trying to get one every three squares.. I'm shocked that adam won with that strategy :P

Agreed! It was incredibly inefficient on Adam. He put a timer on his success and a pretty long timer at that. Luke was just incredibly unlucky/confused with his strategy.

Adams strategy was way more efficient than Luke's that's why he won. Luke was shooting all over the place and as such couldn't work out which were hits and which were misses, hence his random coloured board at the end. Similar to Blair's mistake of not realising that she had to take out Luke's ships to reduce his number of shots which would have given her such an advantage with how early she found out where they were. x:x

Expert mode was really interesting!

This is the first time you guys have played I game I felt I would totally win against you all. Love playing battleship. I had to post because this is the only time out of many games I've seen you guys play I've felt I even stood a chance at competing.

@@11th-lemon personally diagonal into the center. With the four middle blocks covered. Then systematically work out from the middle.

I love the “Ol Timy Music” which I’m sure is not straight from the game lol

Did you all play this via Steam or some other online platform? And where did you get those fillable boards you showed at the end of Luke & Adam’s game? I run a gaming club after school and would love to pull this in as another game to play!

I now have 3 new ways to play Battleships! I don't think I've played it in like 25 years.

I would've saved I One for last and then triumphantly said "I Won!"

Thanks for posting the video but I couldn't make it through it! I still stand by my assessment that Battleship is not actually good... Is there a way to play Cryptid online between you guys? I fully agree with Adam saying it's a better game than the full salvo mode

Very early in the game I love how Luke missed both with C and E 3 when there was D3 and Laurie missed with F6 when C-E and G 6 had ships lol this game is very frustrating. I never played that you had to tell what ship you hit. Was Laurie's submarine just positioned wrong in the video or did he mess up saying E8 was a hit?

So if you pay attention a bit more, you see the submarine somewhat shifts down a space. It happens cuz I guess you can’t always catch everything, but the submarine shifts and then some shots aren’t registered on the board. Still a great game and yeah I’ve never played where they say what was hit until you sunk it. But hey, sometimes games have rules that you never heard of and/or street rules that have become normalized

Luke and Laurie we do love you both.

You played wrong. You should never know what ship you hit when you hit one. It makes the original version that much better.

So I thought I had seen every NRB video, but here I am, finding a new one. I must say... I found the first two games kind of boring. But the expert mode game... THAT was tense! Very "Balance of Terror," if you're a Star Trek nerd...

Is Luke churching up Battleship a bit, or does he just love playing any game?

100% the same. It’s clearly a mix of a couple places. She sounds Irish that spent time in the US and lost some of her accent, she is from the US and went over to England and is gaining the accent.

I...I don’t understand Blair’s Battleship game plan. Someone please explain

Did she possibly mistake that sinking a ship would lose her a shot like when her ship sank. Like if she eliminates a ship she'd have four left to sink and would lose a shot per ship she sank?
