I can already see the design process behind this. usually animators don't immediately animate at 60fps or higher, they animate at 30 or 24fps, after which they or another animator or designer get the animator through a process of interpolation to match the game's fps. what happened here is that the original animator probably had very little time, and gave DICE the earliest animation draft for the AK-74u and it was interpolated, so in a way... I feel bad for the animators.

I’m pretty sure the Portal assets aren’t made by the same animation team for the base game. Ripple Effect (DICE LA) made Portal, not DICE Sweden.

Portal animations is from another animation studio, it is the least for the experience.

I think its genius how you put the captions. Its not covering the gun, it says what type of reload it is, and it gives information about the weapon itself.

Garry's Mod can not only create models and reloads better than this, but it can also port it too. MW2019, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Day of Defeat, Insurgency, Titanfall, all those games have perfect ports and run exactly as it should.

I noticed it and it’s so bad it’s hilarious how did this get through to store shelves. Like bruh, some BOCW weapon animations look bad but at least some came out decently, but in the end the game was just fasttracked to Activisions schedule. This game has suffered this too, but worse.

5:09 Out of all the animations in this game, the M5A3 is the one that feels the most lifelike, the most complete. It just has a sense of weight.

I talked with another viewmodel animator and he think's what happened is that they had a character (third person) animator also do the viewmodels, which judging by the animations, they've NEVER done viewmodel animations before. This is why you hire proper animators for proper animations. Edit: I'm still talking about B4B, I think they just rushed the animators for BF2042

Half the animations in this game are legitimately broken. Unbelievable coming from Dice.

@@mhazg6621 Most of these definitely need to be improved, they don't look that good. Look at the PP-2000, AK-S74u or the MP40 for a couple of examples, they could've atleast delay the game for another year to fix not only the animations but also the bugs, glitches and all that stuff.

Keep in mind that this game was made in a pandemic so ofc they had limited time and stuff to make it. Even vanguard is terrible with a shitload of broken glitches..

We have reloads trying to emulate MW2019 to what essentially are Killing Floor 2 reloads with none of the style and the smoothness of it

After seeing these Portal animations I can understand why DICE LA only ever did auxiliary work on previous BF games…

Unfortunately these are the kind of people that you get when Rich millionaires have kids and those kids don't have to do anything with their life. When you grow up rich or just spoiled in general you find everything possible to complain about everything needs to be perfect to you and that's why I hate this community in fact the community is the only thing really pushing me away from the games. I can deal with the bugs right I can deal with the crappy releases they aren't a huge problem and you can see this it's not just me either but the community is getting toxic extremely toxic call of duty level toxic and people are leaving. I had a huge group of friends at least 50 of them and we all used to hang out and play Battlefield all the time back when Battlefield 4 just released and the community used to be more loving and caring towards not only other players but the developers as well. Now people just complain about everything and all of my friends I only have about four of them left and still play with me the rest of them left because they got sick of the community. people are getting more spoiled in this community and it's ruining it for everybody else the constant complaining isn't helping it's pushing so many people away. You can't even like Battlefield 2042 anymore if you like Battlefield 2042 you're casted out of society completely you get absolutely destroyed for having an opinion that isn't the status quo.

After rewatching this video again, I must say that I like the reload animations in BF4 a lot more than BF2042. BF4s reload animations were smooth and accurate. But a lot of the reload animations in BF2042 sadly feel half-assed.

The transitions are so smooth between different animations...

I've noticed BF5, BF Portal and CoD:Vanguard have odd reloads for the MP-40. All 3 do the "H&K-style" reload (pull charging handle back, lock open, replace mag, slap/unlock handle) when it's not necessary. It just makes the reload animation longer. Also, those arms clipping on the PP-2000 reload 😬

Nothing beats modern warfare's reloads.

I think PP-2000 was animated by 2 people, 1 went for more realistic finger of trigger and the other stayed true to bf2

@@Ajay-dy3xw only virgin cod kids care about the animations. BF4 is loved by the comunity because the gameplay was ahead of its time, especially when they fixed the issues in 2015 after the bad launch. 2042 is hated because the game is terrible, not because portal anims are bad.

Gotta give them props for somehow making the reloads both extremely floaty and also extremely stiff. I don’t even know how one fucks up that badly

im sorry but like can we just appreciate how long tz probably took to make the captions so detailed and intricate, atleast another 2-3+ hours of writing captions. not to mention they do it on almost every video

Oh god the grenade launcher sights flipping up magically is the real icing on the cake

You should distinguish between normal and tactical reload Tactical reload is only when you bring up the mag first and reload, which aims to minimize the time where the weapon doesn't have a mag

the 12M Auto animations were actually quite good, but that's about it really.

i don't know why but i love the design of the players character gloves seen in 2042 guns. They looks cool and sexy

I think the problem with 2042's animations is that a) there was no thought put into them and b) the animations were originally fine and they've been sped up artificially. I would recommend setting the playback speed to either 0.75 or 0.5 to make them at least a little bit better The reason I say they've been sped up afterwards is that you can see at 4:06 the magazine evacuates at Mach 2

Interesting how they went through the effort to have multiple super detailed revolver reloads, but still made the goof of not lowering the hammer before opening the cylinder.

so did anybody else catch the GOC Magnum's bolt straight up disappearing at 10:05 or was it just me?

I just don’t understand why they didn’t just reuse animations and use bfv animations for 1942 seems reasonable and doubt they would get any hate for that but what really cool thing about 2042s reloads is that the person switches the gun into safety when reloading since I’m pretty sure that’s one of the new rules for something

i don't think the problem is the actual animator, most likely these reloads came off as trash because they didn't have time to do them. My theory is that they came up with the idea of portal a little late into development and had to rush things out a little due to the amount of guns there are

M240, the bolt is forward the entire time. Meaning it never gets cocked and isn't ready to be fired.

The DXR-1 is just the DSR I've also never seen any game use the extra magazine holder on the DSR
