A single tug boat can move this thing while it's floating freely. The surface area for the wind to hit is incredibly high on such a large ship, creating huge forces, enough to move a floating ship of this size. The better question... Why the heck did they let a boat like this in such a narrow canal during high winds!?

So the reporter thinks it’s a super tanker! The clue is all those shipping containers above deck level. That’s why it’s referred to as a “container” ship.

They need to back a few big ships in there hook them up back to front like railroad engine's but with heavy tug boat ropes and pull on the right rear portion it will come right out, they could have had this done in one day maximum

@@franktee3507 there's no transmission, they have to stop the engine and restart engine in reverse rotation, some ships have variable pitch propeller, from the helm they can adjust the pitch to thrusting in reverse within a few seconds

Pretty sure the oil cooler for my van is on that ship.

In case you didn't know, this ship is on a wet-lease so Evergreen actually does not operate the crew. The owner of the ship is a Japanese company, only that the capacity of the ship has been completely bought off by Evergreen and they will pay the operation fee. This is a common practice in the logistics industry as crew training demands years of experience and even with that, expertise gained are very specific to each vessel. It's like when somebody charters a plane they usually don't prepare their own pilot, and you can compare the complexity of operation between a plane and a super container.

Two questions: (1) I assume it is extremely difficult to take off some of its cargo (e.g., with appropriate helicopters) so that it is lifted up and gets unblocked. Right? (2) if (1) happens, it does not appear to be an issue if they removed properly the containers, i.e., no stress-induced damage will risk the structural integrity of the ship. Correct?

"Just in time delivery". The saviour of the world until it isn't on time. When it fails you blame anything and everything except the decision to keep zero reserves of what you need.
