    Amazing performance out of a IIIA+ panel! For suggestions, it's awesome this covers the back of the seat, but it would be good to see it sold with a small 6x6"-ish panel to go on the back of a headrest. If a bullet goes through the headrest, that's pretty much Game Over.

    I had made something similar and also use US military deltoid armor which panels fits perfectly under the seat covers for the headrests on my Toyota Tacoma . This is needed because of all the road rage incidents with m0r0ns with firearms that here in Houston , TX seems to be a daily event . Also you can put armor panels inside the door panels that does not interfere with the windows . Sounds like an up armored Humvee and sometimes wonder if that is what we need in todays America .

    The only ones I've looked over much were the current Crye model 3A(newer standards plus VPAM), I think they might stop *one* 5.56 after it deflected off the (now broken) windshield, round two is likely lethal. Pistols and shotguns though, yeah. The Crye crotch flaps are solid and flat paneling, check that out.

    I have thought of this too. Seems logical to have protection if you're being threatened, chased, shot at for being in the wrong place...whatever. Protection for you and your family, while in a car, just hasn't been given enough thought (unless you're a wealthy person that can afford an armor plated vehicle). This product has a larger coverage than hanging your vest over the headrest. Glad you were able to get this produced! Should be in everyone's vehicle.

    Do they make a seat cushion for IED protection? I would totally sit on a 2 inch panel of UHMWPE with some comfy memory foam on top. Edit: also, someone asked about a slick option to actually sit on for taxi/ride share drivers. Prolly a good idea. A slick option in car interior/non tactical colors would be sweet.

    ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!!!!!

  • @James-rr5sk
    @James-rr5sk10 ай бұрын

    I rigged up something similar by taking a MOLLE panel that straps to the back of the seat, and put armor inserts behind it and strapped it down. I put a hook and loop panel on the back of the headrest for a med kit, and also strapped a metal armor plate behind that as well. I like this idea as I had to periodically shift the armor panels as they would eventually slide down. If you get them to make a headrest one too I would get that, and it can be MOLLE like that and we could put hook and loop panels or whatever on there as well, and then you get some head coverage from behind as well. I've also heard of several people being shot at as they drove away from a bad guy before as well, I know there is the video of the Uber driver that got shot through his seat as he booked it away from an attempted robbery. Another one I remember is someone slowing to help a stranded motorist or something similar, and it turned out to be a serial killer that pulled a gun. Guy floored it to drive away but got shot while escaping I believe, and stopped at a house for help, IIRC.

    A couple of these would be helpful if I could hang them from the rear door frames of my crew cab, covering some of the window and down along side of the seat. They would give some protection from small arms fire into the sides of your car (my kids would be in the back seat) if the s hits the fan and we end up driving through a non permissive environment.

    Like it, one question, all the armor I’v had over the years came with a warning to not store in a vehicle as the heat in a car will degrade the material do you think that is an issue?

    I think it will be fine. The reason I think this is certain polyethylene backed armor is tested by exposure to extreme temperatures which far exceed a hot car in the summer. If you put it in an oven to those high temperatures, it would degrade the armor. Of course, I can't guarantee anything, as I don't know the specifics of this armor. As far as kevlar (I don't know if this has any, like some other 3A+) it's more resistant to temperature. It's certainly better than not having it there in the event a round hits the seat.

    Once again, the difference between 300 blackout and 7.62x39mm is remarkable. Yes, I know there's a significant barrel length difference, but still.
