Battle of Yultong 40.000 Troops v 900 Philippine Troops (British Army Soldier Reacts)

Ойын-сауық

#BattleofYultong #Yultong #Philippines #KoreanWar #LabanansaYultong
The Battle of Yultong (Korean: 율동 전투, Filipino: Labanan sa Yultong),also known as the Battle of Meiluodong (Chinese: 美罗洞战斗; pinyin: Měiluódòng Zhàndòu), Battle of Yuldong, or Battle of Yuldong-ri, was a battle of the Korean War. It was fought between elements of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army 34th Division (44th Division from Chinese sources)[6] and the Filipino 10th Battalion Combat Team (BCT), north of Yeoncheon during April 22-23, 1951.The battle was part of the Chinese Spring Offensive.
The Philippine 10th BCT was attached to the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division at the time of the offensive. Initially composed of 1,367 troops, the battalion was reduced to 900 men due to previous casualties and other losses. To prepare for the incoming Chinese offensive, the U.S. 65th Infantry Regiment deployed its 3rd and 2nd Battalions, facing west and northwest, respectively, along the Imjin River, while the attached Philippine 10th BCT held the regiment’s right flank near Route 33. The Turkish Brigade, was just east of the Filipino unit.
Opposite the United Nations Command forces in the area were the PVA's III Army Group, composed of the 12th, 15th, and 60th Armies. The overall commander of the Chinese PVA forces, Peng Dehuai, planned to have the 12th and 15th Army attack and encircle the Turkish Brigade and the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division, respectively.Near the Imjin River, the 15th Army had a narrow zone between the river and Route 33 projecting through the area held by the 65th Regiment. Along Route 33 and east of it, the 12th Army and 60th Army were to attack through ground held by the Philippine 10th BCT on the right flank of the 3rd Division and through the Pogae-san ridges occupied by the Turkish Brigade and 24th Infantry Division.

Same with the Cabanatuan Raid. So many interesting things happened in that raid. There was actually already a movie made for that battle (with a bunch of Filipino actors like Cesar Montano), but I heard it wasn't too good because they inserted too many unnecessary and boring subplots. I hope someone makes a better one.

@@hahahehe2140 Philippines does not actually own the alleged "West Philippine Sea". When the Communist Party of China took over mainland China and formed the People's Republic of China in 1949, the line was adopted and revised to nine dashes/dots, as endorsed by Zhou Enlai. China's 1958 declaration described China's claims in the South China Sea islands based on the nine-dotted line map. But Philippines started claiming a part of the South China Sea in 2013 and named it "West Philippine Sea".

I watched a documentary where they interviewed some of the soldiers who fought there. They narrated how the battle was so hard for them because it's winter that time and there's no winter in the philippines so naturally they are going to struggle because of it. One said their socks was stuck in their foot and removing it ripped the skin. Thankfully, filipinos are so resilient and able to endure the cold.

Another note, prior to the Korean War, the Philippine Army was understrength. There had been a huge draw down immediately after the war. The 10th was the most ready unit the PA had, and they still needed to patch it up to get it in full combat strength. My Grand-Uncle, for example, had not even had time to officially report in as he had literally just gotten off the transport ship in Manila Harbor. He had been told to sit and wait as the 10th was going to use the same ship he had sailed in and to report to the CO. One of the famous officers in the 10th, Boni Serrano, was actually from the Philippine Constabulary (like the Spanish Civil Guards or the French Gendarmerie- policemen in military uniform). He and his platoon were shanghaied to make up the numbers. The Supply Officer/Artillery CO was from the Navy, LCR Emilio Liwanag. In fact, in 1948, the PA had more tanks and tank destroyers than men who knew to operate them. So many, in fact, that they "sold" hundreds to the Haganah and these would be the core of the Israeli Armored Corps. The 10th had sent their 15 Shermans on ahead as they tried to patch up their personnel deficiencies. These Shermans landed in Pusan almost a month ahead of the 10th and were immediately used by the Americans in shoring up their losses in the Pusan Perimeter. By the time the Filipinos arrived, all the 15 had been destroyed in combat. LCR Liwanag could only find 6 M24 Chaffees as replacements, but the CO decided these would go to the Heavy Recon Platoon instead.

Man, 1948, 3 years after the war was over and the men who probably have been through hell once again take up arms to protect the said freedom of the world again, without hesitation and even volunteered to go there. There was clearly something back in the day, something that we don't have... that men before stood strong and went against Tyranny for the greater good, sacrificing themselves for the betterment of not just their people but for the entire world. I wish people were like that today :( not just filipinos but everyone... proud and strong...

Should have been many more highest awards given to those brave men!!! Good day, Drake! My Grand Uncle was a green 2nd Lt. with the 10th BCT in Korea, and would later serve as a historian with the Philippine Army after retiring as a Brigadier. Here is something that might interest you: the day after the 10th BCT was pulled off the line after the Battle of Yultong, they joined the Canadian Brigade and the 8th Hussars in launching a rescue operation to save the Gloucestershire Regiment, the Glosters, when they had been trapped by the Chinese Offensive in what is now called The Battle of Imjin River. They were stopped short by 2,000 yards from the Glosters positions with heavy artillery and human wave attacks. 522 Glosters were taken prisoner after a gallant stand. Only 63 men were able to link up with the Hussars and the Filipinos. President Elpidio Quirino also had a personal stake in the Expeditionary Force. His only son, Tomas Quirino was a Lieutenant in the 19th BCT, as was his son-in-law, Luis Gonzales. Both would also be fighting in Korea when their battalion rotated to the front. Another veteran of the Korean Expeditionary Force, this time from the 20th, is the Philippine former President, Fidel Ramos.

It's a pretty amazing story I'd first seen a random video about, then later heard it told (in another KZread video ) by a former Navy SEAL who said he knew a guy that was in that spec Ops group that went out and wond up killing it after a bloody fight. He told it from his friends perspective with permission. Mr. Ballen is the guy on KZread that convinced me there's something to it, and too much to simply write it off after I'd heard it from his angle. Good luck and thanks for posting your videos!

Hardships in life a part of their living , they can fight without eating a whole week, they love peace, freedom, rightousness,,hope and Faith.they pray first and ask assistance from God before go to war, thats what makes Filipino fighter different from other fighters .

@@maxemeize1842 thats why we are much more hardest enemy because we nomalize our way of fighting without relying on advance weaponry... what more we can do if we acquire advance weapons... even american are afraid of us, thats why they include on our treaty between philippine-american, philippines are not allowed to make any tanks, battleship and fighter planes...
