You forgot to add when 8000 Muslim riders surrounded the Eastern Byzantine flank and after that the Byzantines retreated.

Also there were 36000 Muslims because the Caliph sent 10000 reinforcements from Yemen. And according to the Byzantines there were 140000 soldiers, not 150000 (which is probably true)

I somehow doubt truthfulness in these casualty numbers. In 2024 we have so much propaganda just imagine 1300y ago. Or every Muslim in this battle was John Rambo, take your pick.

Even modern estimates say that the Byzantines had about 40000 casualties mainly because Khalid bin Walid surrounded their Eastern flank and destroyed it

@@frozen1762 What do you mean? He lost 4000 and several thousand were injured. But yeah he doesn't have high casualties because he was one of the greatest military generals.

All these battles where you have 1: 10 disadvantage and 1000:1 casualty rate in your favor in antiquity (Greeks vs Persians, Alexander etc.) are all bs. Best you could do is 2:1, 3:1 with great commander and a bit of luck (Cannae, Napoleon) and still you would have way higher casualties. Winner always downplays his own losses and exaggerates number of enemies, simple.
