My family has always been Protestant and I am proud of my heritage. But in Montreal, Canada we have the St. Patrick's day parade that been going on for about 140 years. In that parade the Scottish pipe bands, and the Irish Protestant Benevolent Society have always paraded alongside the Irish Catholics. I hope one day the two communities in Northern Ireland will be able to do that. The Catholics should just let the Orange order parade wherever it wants. Just sit back and enjoy the music..In the end we're all Celtic and our forefathers all spoke the same Gaelic language. The troubles were a fratricidal war pitting brother against brother.

No amount of MEPs of any party have any authority over the European commission or the European council of ministers, neither of which any citizen in the EU gets to vote for. No MEP can propose a new law or bill to change anything within the EU, they are only there to vote on what the EU commission or Council proposes. No such proposal by the unelected hierarchy and voted for by a majority of MEPs requires all member states to agree to it. Only when a new treaty or a change to an existing treaty are proposed, eg Brexit, is each member states consent required unanimously Even if every MEP from the UK was vehemently opposed to a Bill and vote against it the UK would have had to accept it regardless of what that may mean for the UK. If it was still truly just an aconomic trading block and not a political union as it has become none of this turmoil would have happened. The economy of the UK done very well before the EEC and will do so after. Any problems will result in not only the UK and Ireland suffering, but also the EU as a whole. Brexit voters are not "piss poor, dumb, uninformed, racists". The UK will benefit from Brexit and no amount of stupid comments or EU demands not being met will stop that.
