Battle Of SNAKE ISLAND: Explained By A Defense Analyst

Ойын-сауық

@@zopEnglandzip im a bit of a techy purist, if I am honest, so when I think of one I think of the original purely civilian hilux that you'd find in Africa in the 1980s and 1990s. As I understand it, the technical migrated north from there in the early 2000s after the 2nd invasion of Iraq, before becoming the more standardized construct we know today. Thats why I use the 'civilian carriage for military weapon emplacement' definition.

@@ChucksSEADnDEAD >Please rationalize a mad rush to Kiev, attempts to cut the city off in the West by heading towards the highway, the Hostomel air assault and the vans with riot police with "Russian doctrine". Why, you coward clowns would say it's "cope" anyway. It's a side objective that determined Ukraine's decision in this conflict. You don't fail your mission in a game if you failed a side objective don't you? This however is irrelevant at this point since what Ukraine decided to act at that moment was already set from Kiev operation, and this will end with either Russia annexing the entire area east of Dnieper river, or Zelensky himself getting ousted by his own people which he struggled so hard to avoid by sacking some of his own people. Right now, Your false messiah hoped that Severodonetsk and Lysychansk could become their own version of 'Stalingrad" where they could exhaust the Russian into a stalemant. He didn't expect Severodonestk to fall in less than 2 weeks, later Lysychansk in less than 5 days, now with a high amount of Soldiers killed that averagely it took 7 dead Ukrainian pigs to kill 1 Russian Orcs. TLDR for hohol worshippers like you, It's an objective that if it succeed would not change the entire course of the war since Russia knew capitulating a capital city is worthless endevour (by their own experience fighting in WW2 Moscow and with how USA 'failed' abysmally to contain the fallout they created after capitulating Baghdad), but at least with different people at the helm. However the mission outcome in Kyiv failed or not, it prevent your Hohol Nazi battalion (the Azov 2nd Detachment) from reinforcing the first Azov Detachment at Mariupol, distracting half of the AFU away from the fighting to establish Crimea's "Land Bridge". The said units that has fought in Gostomel AO is now at Kherson and Zaphoridzia, recently blunting the "1 million Ukrainian soldiers counterattack" :^)

Told my teacher about it and asked if she wanted me to present it anyway but without the exact years since I didn't remember them good enough or if I should give it at a later day. I'm guessing she thought I hadn't done it yet and tried to get away with it so she asked me to do it anyway. Well this time I had done it. I'm subscribed, I like, comment and try to share - I hope that helps. Keep up the good work!! May I add a couple of points about your channel / philosophy? I know very few creators appreciate feedback on their channel - but I tried to find your email at your about page but not there. So - here goes - you can delete as you wish. May I suggest you check out these other creators? They too, chosen because YT is NOT their main thing. One Denys Davydov is a Captain on a 737 but cannot fly due to the war. He does daily reports - close to live - unscripted - like yours. But - he does NOT apologize for it being draft or off-the-cuff. You can see he does amazing coverage (of daily battle updates) from various slides and live maps. He's now got a heat-map that shows active AO's. Impressive. But - I note his site - because Denys has really 'branded himself' he's got a slick title-slide that's not often click-baity, he DOES appear in front of the camera - which everyone likes. (I do not visit sites without narration - and yours - is one of the few - without a view of the speaker, that I do still follow). Watch a few episodes of Denys and you'll see he has his outro DIALLED. We've teased him but now it's the same every day. (And he often releases two - or more - videos on a single day!) " I wish you Peaceful-Skies', wherever you are... and, have a nice time! " He's got an income stream from his Patreon and people are sending him money (he gives HALF to others / charities. YT revenue is NOT to be sent to army stuff so he sends other money to them) But - I pass it on - because people love him - no apology for it NOT being written... He jokes of his mispronunciations - and we help him with that too. (He says Heeemers instead of HighMars - but it's cute! He corrected himself when he said the Moskva was "drowned" by Ukraine - but I think so many pointed out how 'cute' that is and he's since gone back to reporting "Drowned ruzzian vezzels' - I love it! Another guy to check out kzread.info Jake Broe. Wow. Another guy - (ex US-silo-operator) had a finance channel but it is so related to the war stuff - that he pivoted - shares his thoughts and knowledge about military stuff, stocks and common sense and his channel too - is a pleasure to watch. Same thing - he DOES appear in front of the camera - does a great job of annotating a plethora of added in data (so his stuff is vetted in front of your eyes) does great analysis, has a great sign on (complete with hand-gestures not many notice), has a great out-tro and has fabulous pics for his episodes. Jake has even shown his channel analytics and revenue - and explains why he pivoted from pure finance to war coverage (as you pivoted from subs to more general miliatary stuff) and borne out by views, likes and revenue! Last one - operator Starsky. kzread.info. Another guy - hides his true identity because he is active Ukraine Army Press Agent - this is his allowed side-show bt he too - strong accent - all done in front of camera - a true active military guy - sense of humour - articulate - witty! kzread.info These guys have all, created, or quintupled their subscriber base, views and of course revenue - AS THEY HELP SPREAD THE TRUTH. And I love and support them all. In short - stop apologizing for extemporaneous delivery and come out in front of the camera. Best to you Sir! Continued success.

Is a VERY SMALL piece of land : 690m x 680m ! Usable is just some 500m x 500m ! You cannot put a battery of S300 there because you simply do NOT have enough space ! A single battery of S300 have several launchers, a command unit, a radar unit, and several resupply trucks. That is, a dozen of BIG trucks, and you need a decent distance between them in order to operate. You DO NOT have that space in this little rock. Conventional arty rounds have a blast area who easily can cover all this area, and I not even talk about missiles. Very easy to defeat, very costly and very hard to defend. Strategic value in case of war - next to ZERO.

But now they have higher range artillery. Since those guys are bored there right now, they will just shoot whatever. It makes no sense for the Russians to keep it right now. But I am sure they will keep a close eye on it.

I don't know it seems to me Russia lost a lot of valuable assets in return. Especially those anti-air assets those are pretty damn expensive. I suspect it was far less coordinated and planned. More like somebody up top was demanding to keep the island without realizing what's going on on the ground. Finally having to come to terms that they can't keep the island of the moment Ukraine started shelling it. Just nothing left on the island. People keep seeming to believe that Russia has a plan but I have yet to see it demonstrated. I mean top level plans still exist, but there seems to be a breakdown between the high level generals and tacticians and the low level grunt. It's almost like they have completely lost all mid-level officers. That or those officers are not expected to voice their opinions to their superiors at all

@@cartrips9263 I really don't care where the sources come from. I'm usually leaning on military analysts from across the world. I haven't made any comments on the civilian bombing but yes that totally is just ooga booga Russia bad. I'm mostly commenting on disorganization and mismanagement of resources as well as a completely different type of military structure that is showing its weaknesses here. One merely needs to look at the fact that over a thousand tanks have been lost from a fleet of about 12,000 if memory serves to see that there has to be some form of disconnect. And keep in mind this is a thousand photo confirmed tanks not including other tanks that have been lost without a photo taken. It doesn't help that the eastern propaganda machine has been running really hard honestly stronger than the Western propaganda machine to try to make this not seem as bad as it is. I genuinely think that the foot soldiers and the people directly above them are intelligent good people. But I believe that the structure is too rigid and the people higher up are disconnected, making orders and decisions that just don't make sense. However Russia has definitely been getting its act together and there has been a lot of people who have been removed for incompetence. Who knows maybe this will be the fire that puts the Russia war machine back into shape.

Edit : there are people in the comments lying about the equipment, please look it up before blindly liking it because we are on NATO's side here. You will see that they spreading false information. Also HIMARS is unlikely to be more accurate than a BM-30 which has guided rockets as much as people responding pretend don't exist, as it uses the missiles from the M270, which is a contemporary system to the BM-30, but at that time Russia had a lot more experience with rocket artillery, well on another scale really BM-30 has guided rockets like the M270. The Caesar is obviously more accurate because artillery in general is more accurate than mutiple rocket launchers, however the 2S7 Pion has a longer range, than a Caesar, and judging by the size of the damage from a shot that feels more like 203mm not 155mm.

They are immensely more accurate since the rockets are GPS/INS guided. Both the US and UK are sending the M31 rockets, since the only unguided ones are cluster munitions, which isn't optimal against Russian armor. And the Ceasar can outrange the Pion with the right shells. And a shot that hits does more damage to the enemy than a larger one that misses slightly.

himars is substantially more accurate than a bm30, it can fire precision strike missiles - not rockets, - it only shares the rocket housing with m270. Your logic is weird. HIMARS can fire a dozen types of GMLRS which is gps guided and inertial guided extended range rocket system - introduced in 2005 and is NOT THE M270 MISSILES. It can also fire ATACMS which is army tactical missile system - an even more sophisticated and modern weapon than gmlrs. Finally HIMARS also fires PRSM which is the prescision strike missile which isnt really fielded yet. HIMARS does not fire any of the M270 rockets, and never has. It does for training purposes fire a dummy rocket called M28 which is a variant of the M26 rockets of the m270, but these are reduced range inert rockets with blunted noses. HIMARS does not fire the same rockets as the M270, it fires missiles which are much more sophisticated.

It has to be, if it wasn't there would be no point in creating it as it has a lower rounds per minute than an 155mm/152mm. Yes amazingly since the 1980s they have developed more rockets to use in the M270 and HIMRAS, just like they have with the BM-30. The large missiles that the M270 and HIMARS can carry are not being supplied to Ukraine. And the M270 and HIMARS does fire the same rockets and missile, you can easily look this up, you even said they use the same rocket housing 🤦‍♂️.

@@Alex-cw3rz I will put it like this. If their Kalibr priced at 6,5 million dollars can't hit a massive building but explodes next to it, I give very little for the immensely cheaper rockets for their artillery. There is little equivalence between inertial guidance from the Soviet times and modern GPS guidance. And Pion has accuracy problems at max range, that is pretty well known. It does much better at regular 155mm ranges, but that negates many of the advantages with it. But the Russians don't care about accuracy, half of their sorties are just dumping unguided rockets in ballistic trajectories. Quantity has a quality of its own so to speak.

It might shake things up a bit in that neighborhood if 3 or four Patriot type batteries, a few Iron Domes, six or eight CIWS, some Tomahawks and a few Harpoon type systems were to spring up there over night. Icing on the cake would be to set up an airstrip for Bayraktars and bring over those Turkish S400s. That would establish a 300 mile bubble for air assets and even greater for surface vessels. Sebastopol and the big bridge would be threatened as well. Not tomorrow or next month, but at some point one or the other combatant will most likely do exactly that. Put enough air cover to secure both the island and supply routes and you have a very advantageous military and strategic asset, Dragon Island.

they'd probably rather have those systems in odessa than on the island and risk them while taking them to the island. what is interesting is that neptune has claimed range to hit sevastopol port from snake island, but there's only so much ciws and stuff can do plus they have submarines as well, it's kinda really hard to defend place in modern warfare.

If you really really wanna see all that equipment destroyed, sure. This war should've made it abundantly clear that air defence isn't generally as good as we thought it was and you can exactly resupply an island easily, certainly not with submarines in the waters around it.

It would make no sense to put these strategic assets unto a isolated Island that close to the Russian navy that effectively own the area for all intents and purposes. While I'm sure it's a wet dream of certain laymen there is no basis of reality of this ever being done.

@@FlyingVolvo As far as being a 'layman' I'm pretty sure I helped operate and fire more fortunately unarmed tactical nuclear (training only, off Crete) Sargeant missiles in the NATO theater than perhaps even you sir. I have also hidden in the bushes a few feet away from that sweet sweet 200kt warhead while shit hit the fan on Cyprus. In fact, my level of training with strategic command and control systems under elevated operational nuclear alert levels, may be at least equal to your own. It was long ago, but you can go right ahead and check out the 30th Field Artillery, USASETAF/NATO Caserma Ederly, Italy if you doubt me. Striving for the highest indeed. I hear the points you make, disagree, but given your lack of manners I have developed the same respect for you that you demonstrated for me at the outset so let's part ways now. Mmmmmk?
