Battle of Patay - a disastrous blow to English aspirations in France.

The Battle of Patay, fought on 18 June 1429 during the Hundred Years' War, was the culmination of the Loire Campaign between the French and English in north-central France. In this engagement, the horsemen of the French vanguard inflicted heavy casualties on an English army; most of them sustained by the longbowmen as the English cavalry fled. In addition, all but one of the senior English commanders were captured. A victory often credited to Joan of Arc, she was in fact not present for the battle as she had remained with the main body of the French army. The vanguard at Patay was led by La Hire and Jean Poton de Xaintrailles.
The battle was a disastrous blow to English aspirations in France. For the French, it cemented the turn of fortune which had begun at Orléans and concluded a highly successful campaign. The latter was followed by a march to Reims which saw the Dauphin Charles be crowned King of France. The Hundred Years' War, however, would continue until 1453.

I'm sure many soldier asked this question, on both sides, these with "Jehanne" and these against....I heard about an english general galloping to cacth his vanguard further north, and the soldiers believing he was fleeing increasing the panic. Are there any sources thereabout ?

The more I learn about the lady of Orleans, the more I’m coming to figure out, she was far more than a figure head who just waved a flag to inspire troops. She seemed to know strategy and well versed in battle. It’s taken a while, but putting the pieces together, she was the hero that France didn’t deserve, considering what they did to her after…

@@Tibolt-hc1xk and yet english media choose to glance over them and only talk about crecy, poitier and agincourt and how these battles revolutionized medieval warfare forever (it didn't, it was the french's compagnie d'ordnance that did and to this day too) how the longbow was the new super weapons (it wasn't, the french only has slightly less of these stone age tech than the english, the actual new super weapons were gunpowder and it was the french that deployed them to great effect and hilariously outperformed the famous longbows)
