Ok, allow me to go total nerd here for a minute. If we look at the dates given in both the original Alien and Prometheus, it can be determined that it is not possible for the creatures seen in Prometheus to be the ancestors of anything from the original series. These mutations are either happening after or concurrent with the creation of the "real" alien strain. The "DNA" is there, but it's like comparing humans and chimps: very similar in form and function, but very, very different.

Well, the Trilobite isn't a Geiger design, but it was inspired by his work. I think his work tends to be a bit more suggestive while many of the designs in Prometheus are very very overt. Geiger's work on the original Alien was masterful, adding just enough of the sexual imagery in the underside of the facehugger, the opening of the eggs and the subtle phallic shape of the Alien's skull that creates an uneasy feeling without constantly feeling like you are looking at someone's junk.

Well, in theory EVERY creature exists purely for reproduction from an evolutionary standpoint. I assume the Trilobite was designed to exist for a considerably longer period of time than a Facehugger. It may have needed to travel large distances and even eat to support itself. The Facehugger is more evolutionarily refined and while it CAN move, it's pretty much designed to hatch in front of a host, impregnate it and die.

I have to give you a BIG shout out! This was the first action figure review I saw on youtube. It released the latent collector in me. I had, for years...thought about getting back into the hobby...but I was apprehensive. But your video introduced me to a whole community of collectors and lines of figures I had no idea existed. THANK YOU...and my wife thanks you too. She'd rather me spend a few hundred a year on action figures than a few thousand on Hockey tickets. Shine on.

actually it didn't look the same as an ordinary chestburster, i own the movie and the head of the chestburster did have a crown shape head that an adult queen has and it did have extra limbs that an adult queen has

Actually it is the face hugger, because of what it did in the movie. It shoved one of the tentacles from it's mouth into the engineer's thought. Then at the end of the credits, it showed a version of a xenomorph alien bursting through his chest.

The original egg opening basically looked like a vagina. They told Geiger he couldn't do that because it would offend people, so he decided to make it a cross so nobody could complain without disliking a cross.

It really depends what you already have and what you are a fan of. A lot of people hated Prometheus or were apathetic about it, so if that was you, it's an easy pass. If you DID like it, my next criteria would be: do you already have a Jungle Hunter or City Hunter figure? I would say if you already have the Preds from other releases, you are at least getting something completely new with the Prometheus pack along with a redo on the Engineer.

I love this movie and had to have this and the others! Can't wait for the entire series to be out! I review hot toys and have a decent size collection but will always love neca stuff! Great review bud! Keep it up! Lol

Yes. They are not them. I do believe you are correct in the fact they are related. The face hugger had tentacles instead of legs. And the Xenomorph didn't have a tail, and it used the back of it's head to cut through the engineer's chest instead of bursting out.

It wasn't a queen either, no crown headshape, no tubes on the back, no extra arms, the jaw shape is completely different.

but it isn't a face hugger, and that wasn't a xenomorph. They are both altered bio weapons related to the black goo, the engineers made. They may be related though, but the lifecycle is all wrong for it to be a real xenomorph, because the trilobite didn't come out of an egg layed by the queen, rather it was like a mutated human embryo.

Yes, true but I mean it was the first version of the queen. It may change in time as it gets older. In aliens 3, when the alien burst out of ripley, it looked just like a normal alien. It may change in time.

I believe it didn't come from the mother alien because what you saw come from the engineer was the first queen. I think that when the black goo get's inside a female host, it makes a new species of xenomorphs. Like the snake that went into that guy. A snake probably was attacked by the black goo.

Well, it was directed by Ridley Scott, who made the original Alien. However, besides the suited Engineer non of the creatures were designed by the original Alien designer, H.R. Geiger

Sure there are other ways, but other ways aren't the "Alien"-way. ;) "Alien" or "Prometheus" ins't "Saw"... they work with more or less subtile sexual content, because of the irretation. it's somehow familiar and they pervert this "good" thing into something disgusting! ^^ On the other side, the Trilobite looks like a walking gentital?
