Battery Project

I thought of this project of while walking on the Marin Headlands, north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. On the Marin Headlands up from Rodeo Beach is Battery Townsley, an old World War II battery. It was a very interesting architectural form as it was essentially a retaining wall with a cylindrical form protruding out. This is where the artillery gun was mounted. It also would make an amazing architectural form for a house. With this inspiration I started to design a ‘Battery Building’.
