*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

man this is a helpful video! thank you so very much! Just had Armature in Little Rock, AR rebuild my very uncommon Altenator and the batteries are still losing power when I run my air. I'm hoping the isolator is the problem as a very experienced mechanic mentioned the isolator or the altenator being at fault. I've never heard of an isolator and I could find no other video on how to replace it. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Godspeed R N D!!!

some coaches use " latching" solenoids and I learned this from a tutorial listed to the side of this one in other videos to watch section about latching solenoids which I was not familiar with. I found out these solenoid when working properly use power to turn them on and off that does not have to be continuous. Once activated they don't require power to remain activated - - but once they get another hit of power they activate the other way and close thus not conducting. The guy doing the tutorial did an awesome job of explaining and showing with a meter how they work. My coach has two of those latching solenoids both attached to the isolator solenoid this gentleman just replaced on either side. I had a roadside issue that I used one of my marker lights by snipping the wires and removing it giving me a test light to check where I was losing power to my chassis circuits. In the end to get me home I used battery jumper cables attaching one end to a hot lead wire to the starter solenoid and the other to the hot ( + ) side of the battery then crawling under and with the ignition key on using a screwdriver I manually kicked the starter over to get it running. Turns out one of the latching solenoids wasn't functioning so you would hear it click but it did not remain on. This was on a coach I just bought and even as an old and very experienced mechanic I am learning a whole new technology but one thing I advise all RV owners make sure your terminals and grounds are solid and rust free or you are asking for issues to pop up - - hope this keeps someone else from 5 hours on the ground at a gas station trouble shooting an electrical gremlin before you can get back on the road

Thanks so much! I have a 1994 Pace Arrow 34' with an Intellitec control center. Little bit bigger than what you showed, but I've been messing around with the relays/solenoids. There are actually five of them in there. Exposed though. Much easier to service, but quite the education process trying to understand and troubleshoot my intermittent problem. Thanks so much again for the education and showing doing the process of changing the part over.

Chico, question. I don't want alt charging my lithium coach batterys so I took out 5amp fuse that allowed both batterys to charge. Now on shore power I charge lithium battery and not chassis battery. Chassis battery is charged by alt. Can I take the converter charger 14v feed off battery isolater disconnect and directly charge the lithiums ?

You hit it right on the mark for me...I've been having the same problem....I have two differences...1) Sometimes it charges the coach batteries and sometimes it doesn't. 2) When I run my generator, often times it surges for 15-20 seconds...Would this surge cause harm to the solenoid or would a bad solenoid cause it to surge? It seems I need to start by changing the solenoid....Your video will allow me to give it a shot.

I had a problem with my "coach" rocker switch by the entry door today. It was on for 200 miles and by the time I got home, after I filled up the tank 50 miles prior to getting when it was on, it was not lit nor was anything in the MH working. I would assume I would need to replace the solenoid that you didn't have to replace, correct?

You know Chico, that battery isolator is way to complicated! When living on my sailboat all I had was a marine switch for batt#1' batt#2' and both. Of course I had to remember to switch it to both when using the engine and again remember to switch it off when I shut down! Simple is generally good when it comes to electricity! Bill

Can you / anyone tell me how much these devices costs? Are they available at a local auto store, e.g. O'Reilys? Or, will I have to special order from Workhorse or Intellitech? Thanks for producing this video for the public Mr. Rufus.

to the confusion which is very common between relays and solenoids. A relay and solenoid basically operate the same only that a solenoid has a much higher current rating (and larger terminals) on the switched side as well as the "coil side" than the lower current relay contacts. Also a relay because the switched contacts are light duty the switch leaves are bent when activated (or deactivated)and return under their own "spring"back" whereas a solenoid has spring loaded switch contact "leaves"because they are much heavier material, and because of the higher current (and sometimes voltage) the switch leaves must be further apart so they must be "sprung back" in place unlike a relay. So for most cases a relay and a solenoid function practically the same a low voltage is used in a relay to switch a higher voltage and amperage (power) but a solenoid uses a low voltage and amperage to switch a much higher amperage (and sometimes voltage and amperage= higher power) also most solenoids commonly in use in consumer products have a limited number of secondary contacts usually only 2 secondary (non coil contacts) but relays come in a staggering variety of secondary contacts some N.O. normally open and some normally closed (NC.) there are even many relays that have multiple NO. and NC contacts so some very complicated switching options are available for low power applications. Also relays can be multi- pole and multi throws meaning that there can be many output contacts on a relay or just 2. I am not sure how many can be on a solenoid but due to the high amount of power running thru I can only surmise they are limited by heat dissipation, packaging size, etc.Solenoids are used more in heavy industrial or environments that are harsh to electronics whereas relays are used in lots of different environments.

Does yours have a rating or is it just generic? Thanks again. Regards, Stan

I just did this this morning . put it all back together, hooked up batteries, went back to front to put cover on and i was getting smoke out of the top left of the board. To the right of the 9 wire plug, small black 3 prong circuit was starting to melt. disconnected batteries unplugged everything, took board off and the Silver solenoid up top was hot as hell! Wonder if THAT didn't cause all my disconnect issues to start with which blew my BD solenoid. Now have to find out if this silver one is bad.

I think I isolated part of the problem. I had to rebuild one of the wires coming from the "isolator" solenoid (one you show in your vid). It was my disconnect switch solenoid that really needed replacing, I did that this morning. Then as I turn it all on, thats when I noticed smoke which was caused by the wire. On top of that, that solenoid YOU replaced on your vid, got very HOT. Thought that may of been bad as well so replaced that one too. Tested again, no smoke (good thing), but the isolator solenoid got hot again. Not sure if it's suppose too or what.

Out wit hate multi-meter, Rufus. I had a problem on my Roadtrek 200 Popular soon after I bought it where the vehicle batter would not charge. So as a get-me-to-the-chuch-on-time measure, I started the generator, connected a battery charger to the vehicle battery with my jump start leads, and drove to the dealer, nearly 50 miles. He said it was a battery isolator problem. Now my house battery no longer charges when the engine is running. I just wonder (and I'm about to find out) if the mechanic simply bypassed the isolator! (Do I trust them, not a lot! :-) )

After years as a Tech Rep For Eastman Kodak I need to now why! Also I just do not have it in me to bypass any thing, am driven to make it work as it was designed to work. However replacing parts is an option when other efforts do not work. That is just me though. Some times the shop is the only option if one does not have the proper tools or environment to do the job. In my case diagnosing the fuel pump problem was correct, however I did not have the proper environment to do the job, mud, grass and clearance, so off to the shop I went with my fuel sender in hand.
