Green Arrow deserves credit too. I feel like Ollie wasn't simply "following" Batman just because he left. Ollie had the same idea. Staying in the League is like staying as symbols of heroism but with invisible shackles on your arms. You are essentially symbols that cannot actually save people.

Precisely. Despite Black Canary's accusation, there is nothing in the season to indicate that he had planned this with Batman either. In some ways, Batman and Green Arrow come from very similar places in the way they approach things. (Certainly, they started out as very similar characters.) All said, Ollie probably listened to what Batman was saying and realized that Batman had already reached the conclusion that Ollie was already headed towards.

This is all years old so we know why Batman really left now lol. He was doing 4D chess. There’s a reason Oliver didn’t deny the accusation. The accusation was literally there so the writers could tell us they planned this without feeling like an exposition dump…idk how y’all don’t get this lol.

He never deserved her to begin with. The creators of the show just forced them together at the end of season 2 with no backstory of how they get together like they did with Conner and mgnn. We never see them develop at a couple and after 2 years it comes to an end with Batman leaving the league and Tim choosing the mission over her. Hence the reason the batfamily can’t have good relationships.

The reason hero's joined the league was because it allowed them to do so much more as a group than as individuals. But when the leagues rules hinder them to the point that they do less as a group than they could as individuals, then the league has clearly outlived it usefulness. Ironically, upholding the league at this point does nothing but dishonor what it originally stood for.

Ollie is a Batman fanboy and has as much hero worship for Bruce as any adult man can reasonably have for another. They might not be best friends, but nobody respect Batman more than Green Arrow. Which is ironically why Batman, with his complicated self worth issues, sometimes worries about Ollies judgement. Really the team dynamics of the DC heroes can be so interesting once you take a step back and notice patterns throughout all the media.

I preferred the Green Arrow in Justice League Unlimited who called out Batman and the League for being out of touch and playing judge, jury and executioner.

Batman is the most realistic hero out of all the members of the league. He cares more about saving lives then being a symbol. If he gets hated on for that then that makes him a better hero. Those who don't understand his action arent real heroes.

Clark is more realistic. He has the same ethic of saving lives without neglecting the symbol part. Batman should also be logical enough to understand both, but he gets written quite weird way too often.

A vast majority of people would be corrupted in some manor if they had his powers but superman is literally pure good. That's about as unrealistic as it comes. Yet there are many examples of humans who completely abandoned power to live as traveling bums, basically, from the Buddha to the Apostle Paul. So your wickedness and everybody else's is not a limit on what's realistic for human behavior. You're just justifying your own weakness here. (Moreover, I don't think most who make this corruption claim even think seriously about the psychology of it. Dr. Manhattan is the only serious insight into what an evil Superman would be like - as bored and detached as the Buddha. Another serious insight would be if someone wrote a what-if Superman as an extreme pacifist.) That said, everything you can complain about with Superman's moral perfection also applies to Batman in some way or another, ergo the omni-useful tool belt deus ex machina. The difference is that Batman's character is much too inconsistent for him to be "the most realistic hero". For example, he's man willing to genocide a planet to stop Darkseid yet has a no murder rule. That's the most fundamental example of how unrealistic his character is, but most importantly, how unrealistic his character is as a hero. While it's realistic for human beings to be inconsistent, it is not consistent for them to be as radically inconsistent as Batman while still being virtually perfectly logical, let alone good. He is the ultimate Mary Sue, often times just an idol for the writer (or the fans) or the writer's (or the fan's) edgy worldview.

Exactly, that was the main objective for Luthor when he became president - turn everyone against the JL so he could kidnap Metahumans to make more metahumans. Even when he was impeached and removed by the senate, he still tried to say he was doing right by doing what he did and the JL was in the wrong.

Plastic man is several levels above Elongated man, and has once being described by Batman as one of the most powerful (Or maybe it was dangerous?) humans in the Justice League. I still never truly understood why Flash didn’t leave too. Flash knows what metahumans have to go through. He has seen it time and time again. He himself is a metahuman. While he does have a high profile, being the Flash of Central City, him showing his support for the metahumans was what the writers should have gone for in my opinion.

That is a good point, at the very least he should have been shown considering it, I don't know if Barry would be the type to all out leave the Justice League with Batman, but he definitely could be swayed to seeing things Batman's way. I think it is implied that since Batman and Arrow leaving was just a coy played by them, WW, Kaldur, and the others, that Batman just simply never went out of his way to network with the Flash. Although that isn't that much better than just my headcannon.

It was revealed later in the season it was a secret plan led by Wonder Woman, Kaldur, and Batman. This way batman could lead missions without red tape and send information to the league and the Outsiders.

I loved this scene They formed the JLA to do more as a group than they could individually But now that the UN has essentially shackled them they're better off working individually Batman realized this and wanted to not be party to that nonsense so he quit. Anyone who came to the same conclusion that the UN was holding them back from protecting the world did so too. Black Canary may or may not have been right about it being pre planned but it doesn't matter either way because it was the right call

what batman has done is essentially created a black ops group of heroes who are able to work outside the law, even when labbled as vigilanties and villains they strive to to what is nesssessary at all costs, the league works in the light, as a symbol of what heroes do and maintain order while the outsiders do what needs to be done in the shadows regardless of any outside interference.

At least Bruce didn't kick the rest of the League off of the space station that he payed for.

@@KingOfThaDead64 To be fair, he was the leader in the first season of Young Justice, and a few JL teams as well as follow them. But I agree Aquaman/Aqualad is a good fit to lead, and the rest if the League seems to raly behind him pretty well.

Batman knows change is not easy and the Justice League now is too comfortable and it's possession or at least the leadership is and not making the big waves that are necessary to take the right stand. If you have to dissolve the league to make the statement that doesn't mean that the people of the league have given up. This is one of the problems that is faced in real life not just in animated media. The League of Nations failed and its Charter what is the disbanded later was reformed as the United Nations with a stronger Charter and more widely accepted principles. Some today would say that the United Nations is far less effective than it could be. And that's very well true and unless the group comes together and decides to change from within it may take another Reformation for it to become closer to what the ideals are. The Justice League now is operating within the system and those constraints but it is tying their hands because of the fear of the leadership that standing up for meta human rights would cause more issues they don't want to deal with. Meanwhile you have all the other Heroes who are members of The League but not directly influencing the major decisions who are caught in the politics. Batman took the path that he's going to always take which is to step outside of the comfort zone and be part of the catalyst for change. Whether his actions ultimately help the Justice League to see the error of its ways is the storyline.

Okay all good points! Guess the Batman Inc task force was the best plan but they still never should've lied to the others like that. Furthrrmore when they started staging fake events on the Outsiders that was really going way too far.

Batman still believes he's a criminal (vigilante) from day 1. He did all of it because he knows the system is either too corrupt or incapable. He's just doing what he does best, operate outside jurisdiction.

One thing that pushes batman past the others, his dedication to the life he chose. No point in wasting time arguing and if you dont understand what hes doing or why hes doing it then you probably shouldnt be involved. Grandstanding for tradition or symbolism is useless when theres work to be done.

When i watched this for the 1st time i thought to myself that if Batman left the Justice League then everyone in the League is 99% screwed

Look, I gotta be honest, even if I didn’t have all the facts or understand a single thing that was going on, I would still follow Batman. He’s the greatest strategist in the universe. And knows how to balance his emotions. I’ll follow this guy to the end of the universe
