I Got 3 2 Month Old Baby Boys, And They Won't Potty Train. They Poo And Pee Everywhere. I Even Find Poo Under The Cage. I've Had Them For About A Month.They Seem Skittish. When I First Put Them In The Cage They Just Coward In The Corner. It Was An Hour Later When I Picked Them Up And Put Them Somewhere Else In The Cage, Then They Finally Started Looking Around. They Didn't Know How To Climb Either. I Love Them But They Are A Little Difficult, They Are My First. Also One Of Them Bites Me, I'll Be Picking Up Poo And He'll Run Up/Down Just To Bite Me. He Won't Let Go Sometimes, And He Has Pierced My Skin.

Kristenleannimal I had a rat. He was so awesome. Named him Cheddar Bob, he sadly got really sick and passed away.

RatBoy1999 sounds like they’re definitely frightened of you. I would not touch them or pick them up for at least a couple of weeks. Let them get confident in their cage. Offer them their favorite treat when you come to the cage (don’t feed through the bars) and wear gardening gloves to clean the cage so they can’t bite. Be sure when you do go to pick them up, scoop from below, don’t grab over head. 💖 Give them some time. Takes a lot of patience with untamed rats.

When I was a kid my mom made a deal with me. If I got A’s and B’s she would get me a pet rat. His name was Checkers. He was amazing. The only time I had him in his cage was at night or when I wasn’t home. He use to just sit on my shoulder and hang out. My mom hated him. She thought he was disgusting. He was so sweeting and loved belly rubs. I miss him so much.

I am a veterinarian and when I see how you care about them and in this way with so much patience and love it's just so amazing and sweet, and they look really happy with you! thank you for being this amazing person and helping out those who can themself!

I miss keeping rats. They have a distinct rat smell and it’s kinda comforting, yknow? When mine would get extra icky, I would use a warm/wet wash cloth and wipe em down, maybe once a month. Easy peasy 👍 love seeing your babes. So freakin cute!

I've been a rat Mum for 20yrs, would be lost without my squishies (currently have 2 young boys Echo & Blue and 2 old boys I've just adopted, Zuno & Alfie). I would not recommend dish soap though, it's way too harsh for their sensitive skin and respiratory system 😊

Dawn soap is typically okay, especially if you're not getting it on their face or ears, because it's so gentle. I don't know if they have an unscented type but definitely use that if possible

I had a rat when I was in middle school. His name was Teddy. I loved him so much! He used to eat sunflower seeds off my tongue. He was the sweetest rat I ever had. You’re such a good mama to all your animals ❤️

Love seeing your rat babies. My sister’s rats were not a fan at all of water so we had to just wipe them down with a cloth every now and then. They weren’t calm enough to clip their nails but they are such loving little creatures.

"Wiping them" is NOT bathing them and you are not taking good care of them at ALL if thats all you are doing. UGH that's just LAZINESS

The Goonies! One of my all time favorite movies! Love their names!

One of my rats had a good shower every Sunday. I'd NEVER use dish soap as it really dries out skin out so I dread how dry and sore it'll leave my babies so I'd use either the human dove shampoo and lots conditioner after or baby shampoo. The dove smelt lovely though and left him really soft and glossy after too 😊

I have to say I loved this video! Love the ratties too ^^ I love how you showed how to take it slowly with them I know some people rush and it scares them badly.... as I'm writing this I'm cuddling with my new rattie Dobby...... he's my first rat after having ratties for years until two years ago (I couldn't handle losing them anymore) we went to a local pet store where they have an adoption area I saw one male rattie on his own and asked about him..... he's 6 weeks old and was bought in with his litter mates (he's the only male in the litter) and mom at 3 weeks old due to the owners not wanting to deal with it.... let's just say I went home that night got one of my old cages cleaned, set up and picked him up the next day we thought he was a double Rex (his mom was a Rex) rat but turns out he's a patch work meaning he'll gain and lose fur though out the year. He has a case of allergies (which he's on meds for) we know it's not snuffles since I took him to my old vet who looked after all my others. I know it's not fair to keep a rat on their own so I'm now looking at other rescues to find another boy once I'm confident on him feeling better ^^ I've had him a week and he already likes pets and to be held.. I carry him around in a cuddle pouch he loves the dogs (.... terrorises the chihuahua he wants to snuggle and she's scared of him) loves treats and to snuggle in the bed...

My rat would jump in the shower with me lol...

Current mama to male Blue rat (about 1 1/2 year old), Ozzy (named after Ozzy Osbourne). Been a rodent mama for past 4 years with 4 other ratties (RIP). Honestly, I don't see myself ever without a pet rat!! I get so easily attached. My first pet rat came from a feeder bin. Rex (named after Pantera's Rex Brown/RIP to my Rex) was the sweetest and biggest boy of mine (looked similar to Chunky).

Never keep just one rat. Rats are highly social and they need friends with the same gender!

I just bathed one of my rats for the first time today, and I was so scared of it stressing him out. He was a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but he did so well!! I gave him a bath because of oil buildup, otherwise I wouldn't have done it. He was actually really happy towards the end, and absolutely loved getting dried off haha. I'm really proud of him! Thank you for making this video, it helped a ton :D

OMG! I have 2 rats they aren't full grown yet but one is white and brown and her name is Chip, the other one is hairless and was born with only one eye and her name is 1eyed willie. I am so glad I found you on here, I haven't had a ready since i was a kid but really love my girls. They are potty trained and it definitely keeps their condo much cleaner. This is too cute. I used to have rats years ago. Two cute white ones! They loved baths!

Another method you can try is just allowing them to have free range time in the bathroom while you shower or bathe. Mine have usually come to love water this way and play under the water.

The nail file is so smart! I know having a lava rock in their cage can help naturally keep their nails down, but I'll keep that trick in mind too

The Goonie squad. They are to cute. They did pretty good and u can't believe how kinda chill they are when you fill their nails. When I had a teddy bear hamster, he loved his baths. I honestly think he thought he was at a spa.😂 but, I don't know if rats and hamsters are different in that area. Loved the video. I wish you would do one of Leo getting his hair colored? 🐭🐭😀💜👏👏👏✌

I’m binging all your videos this morning cuz I feel sick but I’ve had one pet rat. His name was Titan & he was AMAZING! He got free reign of my apartment when I was home & was fully potty trained. He also knew a few tricks & just loved to snuggle. He actually ended up having seizures & our vet thought he might have had a brain tumor… it was awful & my heart still hurts so much over losing him. He was my best friend & such a good boy…🥺 He also liked water hahaha he would play in the sink with me but he didn’t like the faucet. He just liked a lil bit in the bottom of the sink & he would splash it haha

This is going to help so much! We noticed one of our mites has scabs all over due to a mite infestation! So baths for all the boys and a thurough clean of their cage along with no protein in case it might also be a overfeeding. Thank you!

Hey Kristen! I am requesting that you do an" all of my pets" update because i'm new and literally every video there is a new animal so can you make that video to get me up to date!!!!

Another good way to wash rats quickly and with the least amount of stress is to fill a jug with warm water and dunk them tail first (up to and not past the ears). they tend to hang onto your finger with their front paws and then they are easy to dunk. Easiest way to do it cause in the sink they try to jump out or climb onto your hands.

Your cuties are so precious!😍🐭 I'm probably the only one in my family who thinks rats are cute. They are so smart. I helped out at a science museum where in there animal lab they taught rats to play basketball. It was fun holding the rats so the kids could pet them.
