10 minutes under running water. Even a full sized human can take a 5 minute shower.
To get a cat clean down to the skin, you wipe AGAINST the grain not with it. A lot of time and effort goes wasted with matting the water logged coat to the skin thereby causing the skin to experience moisture without truly being reached at all with the cleansing affect of the soap or shampoo.

It's neccesary. It doesn't have to like it. Acctualy , cats or kittens rejecting baths consistently is a sign of disobedience and should be corrected imediatly. If you cant discipline your cat , you shouldn't be a cat owner.

Never put water direct on kittens face. In the ear it can cause infection. If he inhales it, it can go into his lungs causing major problems.
