Bastl Neo Trinity - A Modulation Mastermind?

Музыка

Neo Trinity from Bastl is a module for generating control Voltage - which is the most generic description of a module I've ever made, but that's because it's a very flexible module which makes it hard to describe in a single sentence. It caters to your envelope, LFO, offset generation needs, but that's mixed in with a very “jammable” approach to sequencing and automation, that welcomes rapid iteration on a performance.
In this video my plan is to introduce Neo Trinity to you from an architectural standpoint, then try to give you a feel for its workflow by building up a patch through a few layers of complexity, while mixing in a few extra examples of patches I've been playing with as I've been exploring it.

Can confirm! I literally programmed the firmware and now I’m learning what it can even do 😁 The “misuses” are great! Thank you very much @OscillatorSink for the video!

@@vaclav_mach thanks Vaclav and congratulations on the launch! Patrik has one other 'misuse' patch that I couldn't fit into this video. I'll probably post it over the weekend myself, but you'll probably enjoy it - it's quite silly!

Do you think this covers a lot (or all?) of what Maths does ?

  • @OscillatorSink

Short answer: no, Maths is much more flexible in one domain, but this can do loads of stuff Maths can't. More nuanced answer: it depends what you would use Maths for. Maths gives you as much control as possible over a voltage function, NT is more about macros with a single (or maybe two) parameters. But then this has all the sequencing, quantizing etc. And multiple channels of it. Maths is also knob/CV per parameter, which NT definitely isn't, but it's also loads bigger, and in a small case, that might really matter.

@@OscillatorSink It’s just a shame Maths is so frickin’ big and no one has made a similar but more compact module… 🤨

@@symbiat0 i never owned a maths, so i'm not sure, but wouldn't a dual function generator (of which there are some small ones, like the cosmotronix delta-v) and a module to mix, invert and offset (like happy nerding 3xmia) cover most of what maths does?

No, sorry, I have a few projects that I'm doing in the background (getting this video ready was one of them) and I just wasn't going to have any spare time to dedicate to it. I didn't want to put loads of pressure on myself when I was destined to fail basically!
