Great video Matt, night lure fishing has been very productive for me on weighted white soft plastics since I started, especially clearer water. I went out one evening this week and had one fish at dusk, then an hour gap of nothing then all of a sudden I had six more within half an hour and dropped a couple more all from the same spot. There was a shoal right in front of me all fish 50-60cm. Maybe the Bass are less mobile at night and hang around longer, so if you find them you can bag up. Funny thing is I went the night before same conditions and blanked. The joys of bass fishing!

Quality video, choc with info. I hope that Gilbey guy didn't yap the ears off you?🤣 Only joshing; I met him a few years back while fishing over here in Cork. A really nice fella. It's true about bass in estuaries, because I always check their stomach contents when I occasionally keep one. They always, without fail, mostly are full of crabs about the size of bottle tops, in various stages of digestion.

Brilliant video this! I came from Freshwater fishing to saltwater, I've always tried craws bounced slowly along the bottom.. Never had huge amounts of success with them for bass, not sure if its just when and where I'm fishing, but normally can't beat a small Topwater lure. Anyway if it's possible to catch on Topwater I can't help myself! Have had luck on the small whopper Ploppers..

Great vid Matt…. The prawns … look alike they may work well from a kayak .. I’ve tried em on and off… no success but, that may have been to … conditions, technique etc but, I’m sure that will work… not sure about some of the early ones in the vid…. They may catch more fisherman than fish. I think we’ve all been caught like that. I’ll me watching Mark ( Manic fisherman ) with interest. I’m sure he’ll give these a good try! Brownie 🤓

Yes keep persevering I guess. I will probably use the prawns more around jetty’s and piers and let the tide take them slowly along - yes good for @manicfishing he is also showing some interesting jigging at the moment

I'm not convinced with the creature baits. I've spent a lot of time wrasse fishing in very bassy spots around Cornwall and had very few by-catch bass. I'd love to be proven wrong as I've got enough of the buggers to last years.

Great Video and very informative however, I feel ever year the tackle companies want your £’s and the big names in Bass fishing are on the payroll. Very easy to get suck in by all the hype. Of course, it’s down to individual how you spend your bucks.

Great observation- Yea there is a theory that what ever you use most you also catch on most ! There is a trend developing in the uk where companies are recognising anglers that have an audience. I can promise you only honesty on this channel though 👍

When I started lure fishing I got ‘caught’ up in the must have new lures being endorsed it’s easy to get ‘hooked’ . Well done on your productions 👏

Another great video Matt, learned so much from you these over the last few years. A bit of advice, if you don't mind. What size reel would you pair with a 9'00", 7-28g lure rod for Bass fishing? My little Shakespeare 2500 reel finally seized up the other day, so time for a new one. Was lucky to catch a 67cm bass the other day on a slightly heavier bait rod and reel. I love light tackle but I can't imagine trying to land a fish like that on such a light reel (2500).

Although I’d say don’t underestimate the strength of a quality 2500 size reel Go shimano 3500 then for those marks then spend according to your budget. Shimano leads the way in my opinion compared to penn and Daiwa -

  • @SaltwaterAngler

There’s a significant difference between starting to get active (march) then chasing bait fish in may and really getting active (in july) I’ve always been a bit cynical about measuring water temperatures because it Varys depending tides and local conditions.
