Excellent presentation. This is the most common sense approach to baas set up I've seen yet. After all, he's with Fedora, one of the premier instrument makers there is.

Ah..I forgot a little question: Is it okay that on my Jazz Bass (passive) the sound significantly becomes dull when both pickups are at equal level? I guess that could be due to the hum cancelling physics, but is this so strong that I loose so much of the heights (treble) ??? If so, I guess these pickups are not good to use and I have to get new ones that don't behave so, or not?

What's your opinion on bridge positions? I am building a 34" scale bass/20 frets with 2 Seymour Duncan P-Bass Actives! I would like your opinion on placing them at the 24th and 36th fret positions!

Great video. I turned to release the screws on my pickup, but the pickup doesn't "stay" up at the top of the new screw height. Is there something I gotta do to get it to stay up? Should I be able to push the pickup down?

Replace the sponge under the pickup, or better still replace the sponge with springs on the screws, hope this helps

Some P-bass pickups don’t adjust with the screws on the side! I have an older (1980-ish) bass with DiMarzio model P pickups, and the screws don’t adjust the pickup height. In fact, the individual pole pieces on the pickup are threaded, and have a hex (Allen) screw head!

Mine has a static popping sound when playing. Is it the pickups? Strings too low?

So, he's basically saying the "tone" aspect comes from the height of bridge PUP in relation to height of neck PUP (due to their volumes). He didn't mention tone being affected individually by pickup height alone. Interesting.

Buzz comes from the strings. Typically the frets from either to aggressive playing or to low of action.
