When I was a kid back in the 80s a guy that lived near my grandmother had a wheel from a passenger jet go through the roof into the living room and into the basement he was in the kitchen at the time and seconds before he was sitting on his couch watching tv he got paid a million dollars by the carrier for nearly killing him.

Like the previous commenter, I assumed it was ice that forms on the outside of the plane during flight that later drops off (sloughed off by the wind, or as temperature rises), but admittedly I don't know a lot about planes deicing when they are in air.

​@@christinemiller1946this isn't the '60s anymore, nothing is purposely dumped from civilian aircraft except fuel in an emergency (which doesn't freeze solid like water does), and the only things purposely dumped from military aircraft are external fuel tanks and munitions.

Airports have nothing to do with the airline schedule or operations. The airlines are tenants, much the same as a restaurant or gift shop. If they want some compensation for what they believe happened, they'll have to be able to identify the airline and the exact flight.

Yes, the FAA abd the Airlines have the most control, but the Ultimate Authority on Air travel times is the FAA, because the FAA ORCHESTRATES every flight so there are no collisions, with the Literal THOUSANDS of flights all over the planet, if the Airlines controlled it, we'd have 1,000 times more collisions. Happened in Washington state around SeaTac airport , which had ejected ice too late, dropped it out over a residential area, and went through the roof to bedroom. Luckily, the resident was not in bed at the time!😢❤

@@SealthWA If you use a flight radar app like I do, it will tell you all of the planes' info as it goes over your house. It even tells you where the plane took off and the airport that it is traveling to. It's really not that complicated. I use the app almost daily. It even tells you individual military aircraft information.

If the lav access door on the outside is leaking, ice can build up when the plane is at altitude, and then when the plane comes out of altitude the ice can detach and fall from the plane. It's very rare to happen.

Planes don't have a "drop ice block of shit button"...

That is so crazy. Reality can seem a little crazy. Thankfully no people were hurt. Thank God.

As an aircraft mechanic I can tell you where the ice came from. The toilets on airliners have holding tanks just like RVs do so usually at landing a person goes to the outlet, opens a door (similar to the door that covers your fuel cap on your car) and plugs in a drain hose, then opens a valve and the holding tank drains. So sometimes that valve doesn't get closed all the way or it leaks and at 30,000 feet altitude the air is always below zero and a giant icicle forms hanging off the underside of the plane. Eventually it grows so large that it's weight breaks it off and it falls like a bomb to Earth. Another place you can see the ice falling off the plane is if you watch planes landing, usually just as the planes tires thump down on the ground the chunk of ice breaks off and shatters on the runway, spraying shards everywhere. It's actually kind of pretty but it is nasty when it melts of course (since it's shyte n P and blue water with toilet paper mixed in)

And they do what to prevent/address this ? What if that was a kid (human child lol) playing in the yard? Just saying that seems skecty 🤷‍♂️

Aircraft mechanic here, Water tank leaks in the airplane, builds up on the exterior and breaks off. Seen it impact the airplanes wing and put a hole larger than a basketball in it.

@@julierichens4218 the company who flew overhead the house? if it was in fact a result of the airplane, then by suing them they would enact new policies that would protect the citizens below their flight path. For all we know, there were numerous issues, with the plane much like the Boeing 737MAX. Boeing is so much in trouble with their testing/structural issues, and MCAS that whistle blowers alerted us to the issues coincidentally wound up dead from “natural causes” the day before they were to testify before the court. Boeing is a company that can’t be trusted these days so it wouldn’t surprise me if the plane in question was in fact a Boeing.

A military plane lost a piece of equipment and it landed in the living room of my friends grandmother’s home Both her mother and grandmother were sitting on the couch when a chunk came through the roof and hit the TV. Luckily no one was hurt, but this happens.

It isn't toilet ice, never has been. No aircraft releases waste. It goes into a holding tank which is pumped out at the airport. It may have been some wing ice breaking away.

Ever service a waste holding tank on an aircraft? I have, and they leak occasionally, especially on older aircraft with shoddy maintenance. Or the ground crews dont get all the waste flushed out of the waste dump pipes.

I remember when a piece of airplane, the size of a washing machine fell from a KLM flight onto a beach on the flight path from LAX. Luckily, it just hit the sand, and no one was hurt as that beach was always busy.

It happened my dad in the mid sixties building a house in Ireland. A massive chunk of ice came out of the sky bursting through the decking of the roof he was laying. He was in shock and hadn’t a clue what caused it. Biggest hailstone ever. It melted away and unfortunately there was no evidence apart from the hole in the decking.
