Спорт

Teach the key fundamentals young players need to comfortably and consistently finish layups.
The following progressions are perfect for teaching the fundamentals of finishing a lay up. They are ideal for beginner players but also work well as a refresher course for older, more advanced players
Progression 1: 1-Step Lay-Up - Footwork Emphasis 0:21
Progression 2: 1-Step Lay-Up - Eyes and Hip Pocket Emphasis 0:59
Progression 3: 1-Dribble Lay-Up 1:53
Each progression builds on the previous one, so teach these in order!

Love it! Started teaching lay ups to a new player last night and googled what I had taught in case I missed something. Reiterated what I thought I knew, but this broke down the footwork really well and I will be doing it again in tomorrow's training with the same kid :)

Progression 2 is such a great tip. It’s the small details like keeping the ball on the outer hip that lead to big wins!

I've noticed that American coaches tend to tell kids to hold the ball in the lower hip pocket, but why would we teach that? Sure YOUR man isn't there, but there is help defence. Why not have players hold the ball higher (shoulder pocket) and closer to the hoop? I find it much easier for players to finish from the shoulder and they also reduce the amount of time they have the ball stolen from them.

I like that tip, Henry. Also, I think most players will pick the ball up and pass through their hip area as they raise the ball up from the dribble. Both skills probably need to be practiced.

+YoungNiqqa99 horrible because lay ups were meant to be underhand. try doing overhand lay ups at full speed during a game. Its gona bounce off the backboard

For my 8 year olds this was perfect. They're not ready for underhanded shots - they need to get overhand down... and they are LEARNING layups now, not even close to doing it in games yet. I think if you're ready to be doing underhanded layups in a game, you don't need this beginners video.
