Basics of Marketing Research

When firms want to determine what their clients want, or what kind of products they should develop, or to determine if a new product will succeed they will do marketing research to find out more information about the issues at hand. Here we talk about the main ideas behind marketing research.

Hello Mark, I must confess something to you, I downloaded a lot of episodes from this channel and store them on a memory disc because I want to travel in Greek islands and live on a boat and I`d like to do a fishing channel . I enjoy very much everything that`s related to Greece and its lifestyles,. I can hardly wait to see more of this stuff. Thanks Ovi

Catching up on your channel, Mark. I'm the king of competition research. It is so important but often lower priority for many. At a former company, one of my favorite clients used to send me contracts from my competitors. Keep in mind we were by far the industry leader. Secondly, it was a time when contracts were regularly sent unsolicited to prospective customers. Typical phone call: "Thanks for your time...hope we can do business in the future...I'm going to send you our standard agreement so you can see our terms and language..." Anyway, I learned so much about our competitors and actually won business due to that knowledge. 😀 Yes, research is key. 👍

@Professor Wolters NFL Sunday is a great afternoon to binge some marketing videos for sure. Just did the math. 13 videos totaling 74 minutes (includes the Halloween loves/hates). In retrospect, that seems to be an ideal average video length. Perhaps. Kind of short but I certainly never became disinterested. I'm sure you've looked at all the data on this. 😀

I'd like to see how a KZreadr predicts changes in who's their core audience and whether their videos should change to accommodate them. For example, a band called Bring me the Horizon was more metal in the beginning. Later, they started releasing softer songs. How would they know whether to produce metal or go more into a pop music genre which they did.
