Welcome!
Thank you so much!!! I'm the person who's always saying "crafts, painting etc is not for me".Thanks to you and I gained in self-confidence and can now paint beautiful things ( well not as much as you but ok for me). Your voice is calm, I could spend all my Sundays listening to Debusssy in the background and watching your tutorials. I've literally painted 38 different types of leaves 🍃 yesterday! Have a lovely week!❤

Hi from Norway☺️ I have just discovered your channel. As a beginner I have watched so many tutorials on other channels, but I honestly find yours to be the best. I am just finding my way back to watercolor painting. When I was in my early twenties I painted quite a bit. I am now in my early 50s, so I have to start all over again. I have to be going back to basic, and I am looking forward to be following your tutorials🤩

Ditto. After multiple attempts at doing a "basic" landscape using youtube tutorials, and having a bunch of "basic" smears on my page, I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere by going to the basics and just practicing that. I spend an hour doing "S"s from the last tutorial and enjoyed just the brush stroke. Kinda like petting a cat!
I’m new to water coloring and would love a tutorial on how to use a few different brushes-dagger, fan, etc-
Looking forward to these tutorial all the way through! I'd like to learn to paint FLORALS and BOTANICALS, maybe a little rabbit, a squirrel or two. Thank you so much!!!

Ah Kim, left handers unite! Yes we will be getting to flowers sooner than you know! Thanks so much for watching. We're having a filming day right now, looking at mixing different colours.
This really helped me improve my control of the brush and the results are better lines, curves and leaves. I always thought you needed lots of different sizes of brushes to get the different sizes of lines and shapes. Obviously not. So I’m spending a lot of time practicing and re-watching this video very very helpful to me. thank you

I have been enjoying watching these beginner tutorials. I just decided in November 2020 to try to take up watercolor as a hobby. I love art. I actually took up photography a few years ago (photographing flowers and garden landscapes) so that I could use my photos to paint flowers and landscapes. Long story, ended up loving the photography time and put aside the idea of painting until now. What a surprise to find that when I gave it a try, I was a disaster. Too much water, or muddiness . . . not able to let things be but trying to make something right while the paint was still wet . . . well you know. Then I found your tutorials on how to paint flowers, and now these real beginner ones! Well, I can't be more delighted. I was able to paint 3 good-looking tulips after watching your video. Wow! I was so proud. Now I am watching these basic beginner episodes and I will be happily following you on KZread. Thanks so much! BTW -- it is especially instructive watching you because I am also left-handed and it is easier somehow to watch another left-handed person teach brushstrokes, etc.

I don't know if it's just me, but I (a right-handed person) find it much easier to mirror your C and S curves, so I don't have to push the brush. I practised and practised until I just said to myself: Wait a minute, let's try it the other way round, et voilà, much better. And before I forget: I love your videos! Ah yes this is proving a bit of a problem getting supplies in the us.
I have been longing for this kind of lesson! I have been so frustrated watching so many artists only to fail myself. Your simple teaching has given me HOPE! I actually was successful at painting a tulip leaf with your brush strokes. Where can I purchase those brushes in the US?
@deWintonPaperCo
3 жыл бұрын
Ah wonderful stuff Barbara. I’m not entirely sure where in the USA has those brushes but it would be good to just google the brand : pro arte master stroke and see what comes up
I would imagine a "backwards" C or S curve would be valuable to practice as well? Flora will be my starting point (via your book I'm pleased to say), but I also love fauna--I can imagine the thin-thick-thin would be wonderful for feather, fur, and scale variations. Oh the possibilities ;-).

Thank you so much for these. I now need to practice these exercises on the various papers I've bought, to work out how the watercolours behave when I use them. I think I've confused myself by using different papers. It seems results are quite often very different because of how much water is applied and then absorbed or sits on the surface?
