Basic Tips on Crosshatching for Comics
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In todays video I show you my process for refining a face and applying some crosshatching and shading effects. This is the style I use for my comic art and can really apply to any style that you wish.

I truly enjoy your videos. I am 50 years old and still draw when I can. Your work and tutorials are so inspiring. Thank you for taking your time to go into so much details in your videos and work.
Why is Robert underrated on KZread??

Damn good question
Thank you so much! You are an absolutely brilliant teacher. I never would have thought of so many ways to hatch.
I really struggle with hatching and cross hatching. Thanks for this and I’m digging the merch!!
I started inking my character from your Superhero Poses tutorial yesterday, perfect timing, thank you!
bro you are teaching me sooooo much. im a self taught artist since corona hit and im really into making my own comics. you're saving my life here!
thank you so much for explaining every step of the way, it was incredibly helpful.
Thanks Rob! I really appreciate the experimentation with the crosshatching. Most guys I follow do a single take on shadowing, and it looks great, but I don't know if what they do is a rule or what - so it's hard to know how to adapt. This video shows how trying out tidy and complex options give different effects, and not necessary ruin the image. I actually liked the heavier crosshatching and dark shadow. I also like backlit and underlit subjects.
I just recently subscribed to your channel. This is one of the best videos I have seen on the topic of cross-hatching for comic style. I'm a miniature painter who has begun experimenting with this technique on 3D resin printed models for about 3 months. I love your approach to teaching this style and I will be sharing this video and your channel with every artist I know. THANK YOU!
I really liked this video, the sketch is pretty cool, and it good too see the rendering process! Thank Rob
I just have to say, I'm so glad I found your video! Your teaching style makes it easy to follow along and your drawing style is really good! I just spend some time doing the under drawing, and I'm looking forward to trying the cross hatching tomorrow. Your video made my night better! Thank you, Robert!
one of the things that kept me wondering with comic book illustrations is the random lines and details on faces. I mean what made the artist put that there and why did it make a difference in the overall look. Also if the penciller and inker are different, who makes the decision in drawing those lines.
Thanks so much for use your time in make this tutorial, is very helpful.
your videos are so helpful and inspiring
That was really fun to watch, and inspiring.
Mixing your various layers was cool
The instructions were helpful. Thank you.
Great art! 😁I have learnt a lot from your tutorials
Nice work!
Great lesson, thank you! You broke down the steps very well and that shadow mask made me think differently about using the computer to finish my art. Less fear of making decisions if you can "undo"
i love doing crosshatching and this vid gives me more inspiration to keep my artwork going
As far as suggestions for future videos, have you ever uploaded anything about writing comics?
:O..I actually really struggle with Crosshatching thx for this!

For once am early 😱🎊🎊👍
Fuck me!I just had an epiphany
ı suppose there's no one right way for hatching/cross-hatching. Whenever i do, i see them very lame. After watching pros, i say myself what i've done different :)
I think the word you’re searching for there is scraggly

lol. Thanks!
I would speak less monotone and make the videos more tightly edited with less slow pauses in pace Information is second to none, however.
