I'm trying to find a step by step process that shows how to use the bend feature on a sheet metal part. Not the flange feature. Do you have a source for this info? Thanks.

I’m just trying to understand what I can do in sheet metal. I am a metal former. To save parts to duplicate I must have a physical sheet of metal cut to a size, and radius templates to know radius the metal needs to be formed. Example would be a tear from shaped fender of 30’s era car. Is this something I can use to digitally save formed metal parts than a room full of metal and radius samples?

Thanks for great tutorials. I have just started down this route and have a 1 year free subscription. The problem I have is that I do not have the same version? as the drop down menu's on mine does not have the Sheet section for example. Is this a limit on the subscription?

Hi Richard. The latest version has a newer UI. The Sheet Metal workspace was moved to a Sheet Metal tab. Make sure you're in the DESIGN workspace and then select the SHEET METAL tab, all the same tools will be there :)

Hey Kevin, I noticed you said that you CANNOT convert sheetmetal parts to regular models, but does that mean you CAN convert regular models to sheetmetal? that was a function I had always found to be particularly useful when I had the luxury of using Solidworks in school. I would create a complex shape (that would be a huge pain to create with flanges) using solid modeling, shell it out to desired thickness, and convert to sheetmetal

Hi, Tam. Unfortunately, (as a former SolidWorks user myself) you'll find Fusion 360's sheet metal capabilities to be a bit more limiting. Hopefully, this is an area they will continue to improve throughout the year. In regards to turning regular bodies to sheet metal, it can be done, however, it is not quite as simple as a click of a button. This method also only works for simpler models. Here are some F360 Forum threads you may want to check out for more details... 1) forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/convert-stepfile-to-sheetmetal/td-p/7300960 2) forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/help-show-how-to-convert-components-to-sheet-metal-then-create/m-p/8254738#M168705 Cheers, Kevin :)

The K factor is obnoxious. It's just a complicated way of determining how much linear metal is lost within the bend radius, outside stretch is meaningless unless your base metal is prone to tearing.

Hi, Benjamin. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. To be honest, I don't ever work with sheet metal, so I rarely use any of the sheet metal tools. On occasion, I'll use one of them to "hack" something (like rounded text) that wouldn't work otherwise. Cheers, Kevin :)
