If you're off already...hurry & clock & get out of there as fast as you can.. Before they throw the whole table of work on you. Bc lets be honest...There are only a few strong employees & the rest just take up space & are in the way & taking potential good hourly pay for the ones that actually working hard. I have to do multiple employees jobs & sort their messes out bc they can't get it together. They forget to make burgers & drinks etc. Tell customers to park in the cursive area when they should be parked at the 3 rd window etc.

At the McDonalds where I had worked, I was stuck doing the same tasks for years. But I kept asking management if they would move me to different roles to learn new skills. Managers acknowledged and said that they would. However, they would only move me for a few hours then ask me to go back to my current role even though I was beginning to be more comfortable with the new duties. Then they would not offer to me to do the new duties again even though I had asked.. Maybe I performed below their expectations in the first instance but it would have been nice if they would have given me more of a go so that I could continue to improve. Anyway when I left my role some time later (maybe months to a year later), one of the managers asked if it was because I was not being trained in other duties. It took them until I was leaving to mention the elephant in the room. I had found another job opportunity in the industry that I wanted (in which my college degree aligned) so that was the main reason. But I also knew that there would be no further development opportunities at the store when I had been with them through my college years. I just wished that managers at the McDonalds store that I was in were more accommodating and willing to help develop their staff.

I get the feeling McDonald's probably doesn't train managers like this anymore and they might not train them at all outside the basic duties they learned as a crew member. I haven't been to one in some time but when I did, despite it being a good experience, the managers usually looked disheveled and miserable. McDonalds definitely doesn't require them to look presentable.

Then it's not McDonalds that's not giving you a break, it's your incompetent shift leader or crew manager. McDonalds the corporation has strict rules about everyone getting a break when working a set number of hours which is dictated by state law. It's the manager's responsibility to make sure it's enforced.
