You have good form and technique. I don't say that to just anyone, in fact, I am quite critical of some of the garbage they call Jo training on KZread. Well done! I like your 3 strike combination, I am going to start practicing it. Cane Master Doug Rollings

How long is the Jo Mr. A? And, why that length? Seems a bit shorter than the standard, floor to armpit that seems to be standard in Aikido...I'm trying to figure out what length I want. In the past I've gone for 52 inches, but that's seems to long these days.

I'm well over 6 foot and wearing boots so the standard Jo is a bit undersize. I do have more correctly sized Jos for my stature, but if I were to use them in the Dojo I feel it would daunt Aikidoka using the normal size and weight.I have a scarcely discernably longer one cut from a 1 inch thick bo. For solo practice I use a bo of 11/4 inches cut to size which gives me some extra weight to work with. If the 52 inch Jo is too long for the people you are working with then cut down or buy smaller. I really would not worry too much about it.

I'm rather tall for the standard jo, but I tend to use it in the Dojo because it would be a bit intimidating to use a longer stick. Also I am wearing boots as opposed to bare feet on the mat.
