Just curious, how do you know when you've reached the bottom for the basement? I don't see any markers and such.

+B. Lemire they use a laser transit. they shoot a point (lowest point of basement or what they want) measure down (really up) on a grade rod and set the laser receiver. when the operator gets with in depth his guy will shoot it with the laser to see if he is deep enough note the laser transit is a rotary laser that is used with a laser receiver. the receiver has a special sensor that picks up the laser beam and measures where it is in relation to desired depth. there are a couple of videos on youtube about these devices

+B. Lemire bottom of footing which is marked on the survey and the offset stakes have hubs on them with elevations then you use the laser from there
