Baselworld 2019: Hands-on the Patek Philippe novelties

I wonder how many of the future owners of these pieces recognize how blessed they are to own one...any one of these watches would be cherished by me and future generations ...incredible how each year Patek improves on past perfection .

There’s something special about Patek timepieces. Can’t quite tell exactly what, but they seem to get the aesthetics of a dial / case combo spot on. The new 5172 with that blue dial is a thing of beauty.

5212 is a truly adorable timepiece. It has a lot going on on the dial, but very easy to read. 5520 on the other hand is not my cup of tea in terms of design, but in terms of function and mechanics is a stellar watch. I love the minute repeater style alarm and it sounds perfect. By the way I have to say 5172 looks nice, but just not as nice as 5170 IMHO. 5170 has a more coherent design and I love the rectangular pushers.

The 5172 blew my mind!
The closest you can ever get to a minute repeater is 200K swiss unless you buy the seiko minute repeater. Great coverage. I like the chronograph with blue dial as well.

I wonder whether the sweet sound the alarm would actually wake up the person in need. No doubt it sounds like a minute repeater but does it really serve the very purpose for which it was made. A JLC Reveil or Memovox would do the trick for a minute faction of the astronomical price Patek demands, apart from the two time timezone complication Patek has. It is an alarm watch in question, not a minute repeater we are comparing.

The lighting on location wasn't suitable for video, they should think about that. But the watches are beautiful. If I had the money I would have ordered them right away too.

Patek need little introduction.I have noticed generally as an overview on alot of brands so far is that Arabic numerals seem to be very much in vogue now? What goes around always comes around? Great content.You deserve a drink or three!Cheers.

BAPHOMET Tastes are different! Well you don’t seem to like the design...Others do... Patek Philippe plays in an own league. Therefore no need to follow any trends or tastes dictated by external sources...
