Bizarre watching 1950s-style newsreels covering baseball events as late as 1966 and 1967. Very anachronistic.

@@lsmftymf Thank you, friend
When Ruth broke his record, baseball went from 113 games a year to 153,where was the commission then.most homers in a season not 153 games,Maris couldn't help the commission was Babe Ruth's friend. If you won the penit the last day who goes to the world series the one he clinched in 162 game or do you say nothing counts after 153 games,if you go by the rules against Maris shouldn't it be the same as who was ahead at153 games?

Not so. From 1954 through 1960, both leagues played a season of 154 games. In 1918, 125 games abd in 1819, 140 games. In 1961, 162 games.
Willie turns 90 on May 6th.I guess that he didn't take the vaccine-unlike Hank.

Pitched one pitch and recorded the lost.
Roger Maris hitting his 61st homerun over the 344 ft power alley sign....lol...... The fences were were so short back then.

Height wise maybe. Ask any right handed hitter who ever hit in the old yankee stadium. Cincinnati, Houston, Camden along with most newer stadiums are bandboxes.

Maris pulled it into the right field stands at the 344 mark but that was not the power alley which was 430 feet to right-center. Maris was a dead pull hitter in 1961.

Wrong. Typically down each line not so deep but center and power alleys were very deep. Just to name a few: Dead center at yankee stadium was 450' and left center was 440'. When Babe Ruth played center field was 470'. Center field at Tiger stadium was 440'. Center field at Forbes field was 457'. Original Dodger Stadium dead center was 412' and power alleys were 380' with 10' high wall. Crosley field dead center was 420' and power alleys were 380. Griffith stadium was over 400' down left field line and 390' to left center, center field was 430'. Shibe park dead center was 447'. The Polo grounds was short down the lines, under 300' but dead center was 480' and the power alleys were 440'.
Why is this not in color?
You don't see Mays hit three Deckers like Mantle.

You dont see Mantle is durable like Mays.
Ken Boyer passes his brother Clete on the way home. The brothers are good friends off the field. WTF?

If it was so important to move the season from 153 to 162 then why did they do it. I don't think Maris said add 9 games so I can hit more homers. If 153 was so important why add move games. To make move money that's why ,if they add 200 games then that would mean a season. If Willie Mays had done it the commissioner would never said a word. When dodgers swear the yanks Mickey Mantle did hit a homer off Sandy Kovacs.

Who's Sandy Kovacs? Do you mean Sandy Kofax? The Hall of Fame left hander from the Dodgers?

Candlestick Park was a cruel joke. Good Riddance! 👎
Ken Boyer was a good ball player but the Yankees had the better talent .
Yankees lost the series because of a end inning double play which Yankees threw in the bleachers .
