Add a "runner going" to the drill as well. I will give a catcher a candy bar if they get 10 out of 10 in this drill. Haven't given a single candy bar out yet!

@@mattflynn1838 yeap cause if runner is already going blocking is just to look goo cause he has the base...ELITE catchers then will back hand the outside pitch and throw runner out! Blocking and RECOVER is for runners that dont read and TAKE OFF as soon they see "DIRT BALL"!!!

Have a coach give you balls in the dirt, but don’t have on a mitt, or a pancake mitt, so that you can’t scoop the ball.

Landons idea is a great one… when you take your blocking reps you have to be mentally focused and disciplined to keep the glove in a blocking position. A lot of times the solution for a problem is focus and discipline. Good luck this season. 💪

Go down into your blocking stance, with your 5 hole plugged, and your chin tucked. Have a coach or teammate throw hard pitches at you in the dirt in bursts of 6 or seven without coming out of that position. (Awfully explained just comment if you don’t understand I can explain better.)

Hard to say without seeing you catch; my guess is you’re jumping down on your knees for your blocks instead of sliding or staying low when you drop to your knees.
