Ryan, thank you for your comment on the video. Shawn had broken his thumb at a tournament when he was hitting. He was bunting and just got an inside pitch and the ball broke his thumb. His catching coach since he has been 12 is Mike Lebo. Shawn is now 17 and has been working his tail off. Shawn has been having a great year. He tried out for the Big 26 and was selected out of 22 catchers that had tried out. He had a fantastic showing and was named MVP of Sundays game. They played a total of 3 games PA vs. MD all state. Check out the video on the channel. He had a couple of large D1 schools reach out and asked him to come to their camps. Which we did and he performed very well. He is now 6'1" and 180. Ran the 60 a flat 7.0. His exit velocity for his throw to second is 82. His pop time is now 1.96 His exit velocity batting is 94. So as far as his stats he is killing it and performing amazingly at the camps. But there hasn't been any offers from these schools and he is getting very stressed out. Ryan, if you have any advice for Shawn and well for me as a dad, please reply back to us. I'm not sure what we are doing wrong on this college recruitment. I was watching your video about your story and the wonderful video on your channel. I know its been awhile from when you posted the video, but I hope your mother is doing well. Again, thank you for your comment and I really hope you will reply back and have some advice for Shawn and myself. Also, check out the Big 26 video of Shawn it's the latest video on the channel.

Trailer mentioned it once...leave mitt down in the 5 hole! Other words over come the urge to bring it up and try catch the ball! Great coach of mine once told me "once in dirt FORGET about it" meaning trying to catch it! Use the chest to knockn it down killing it! If notice (sure trainer did also) that when he brings glove up that ball comes off the heel of it and futher way ...when it dont get past the right leg! GREAT WORK AND ENJOY THE VIDS and hope sayn some things i see are okay...as couch and father of 2 catchers it is hard to notice it all!

@@catchthisSK Tks...and as good he is if he resisted the urge to bring the mitt up to the ball causing few to hit heel of it and get away ...then he wouldn't have as far to recover! The trainer mentioned it once but then few balls after it was still coming up! With those next few it did hit mitt and drop close by so Trainer must not notice as much as the ones that hit mitt and get AWAY for long recovery! Keep up good work...my 13 yearold was at My senior son practice yesterday working the hop and block and doing same with his mitt...i just trying get his older brother to help me get him out of only back handing! I mean the fastball surprise you have back hand but mine still trying the slow curve in dirt! I loke these vids and best i seen learning as your son does from good trainer! Better than just trainer talking to the camera when see a kid close to my own going through it! Again...keep up good work!

Excellent hands. What the coach is trying to say is, once Shawn catches the ball take the left leg and block the running lane. It’s difficult for Shawn because too much weight is on the left leg. Always have balance, just like hitting. Excellent work overall.

I know it is the Mizuno catchers mitt. Is there any other catchers mitt for an 11U player that just made a travel ball team. I’m not the best with knowing how to break in the glove and it seems like most regular mitts are to big for my son. The Wilson A700 Pedrioa fits him nice but it is not the same fit as the A2000 Pedrioa fit. Any advice would be great.

if you have a new mitt. Shawn and his coach used shaving cream (barhbrasal), Covered it in shaving cream everyday for about a week. They used the hack attack machine and just kept feeding baseballs to Shawn everyday for at least two weeks. It takes some time but if you use the shaving cream and pitch to him everyday it will most def break the glove in alot quicker. I hope that helps you out. Let me know if you need anything else. Also, if the fit is not right and is too big, use a padded batting glove when he is using the glove as well. That helps out as well. Let me know.
