Today I am reviewing the Barton Watch Bands Alligator Grain Quick Release Leather Straps. We were provided 4 variations of the straps for review and I wore one of them on my Omega Speedmaster fairly extensively over the last month. While I am not in general a huge fan of the dressier style and aesthetic of straps of this style these are a great value at $28 and the quality is top notch for the price.
Thanks for watching!

Barton straps, my respects! Their priority is customer satisfaction! In this time of pandemic I ordered straps from different companies including Barton. All got delayed, only Barton replied and offered a refund or another courier delivery with no extra charge. Just to check I asked for a refund and immediately I got a refund. Amazing! Other companies just used the excuse of covid 19 and don't even talk about a refund. For straps, only Barton!

Great review. The best part of these embossed leather straps is to use them as an everyday use strap and save the OEM straps that come with your watches for special occasions. I think the other colors include grey, white, and merlot (reddish brown). They might have a green one now also, but I'm not sure.

Agree - looks great on the Speedy! I personally prefer round 'dainty' buckles - and a more pointed shape on the other end. But good looking bands.

My first go around with a Barton was a disappointment. I got a silicone that was whatever. Looked cheap, felt cheap, and cost double for something I could’ve got at half then price from a less known brand. I just ordered one of their top grain leather. Let see how this one turns out.

Timely video. I just got a Seagull 1963 chronograph and am looking to switch out the nato strap it came with. I saw these Barton bands in Amazon but didn’t pull the trigger. I have one of their Elite silicone straps on another watch and so far the quick release is holding fine (not sure if the lug holes are getting damaged; I doubt it). Still searching for what will work best on my Seagull. I’ll eventually be deciding on one soon.

Love these! Another brand you should check out is Brathwait, I bought a dual-deployant leather strap for my wife's watch.. and after a year it still smells like a high-end leather goods boutique. Incredible quality, although a little more money at $50. Still worth a look :) thanks for the review!

Thanks for suggesting that. I'm always on the hunt for the next strap brand. Watchgecko also pretty good.

The OEM alligator strap, sized 20-16 with deployant, is really the best way to wear a speedy pro IMO. Yes, it is really expensive but the quality and workmanship of the strap are better of any other straps that I know. It is a bit stiff out of the box but after a while it feels and looks better than the bracelet. People need to try it out in the boutique if possible. Cheers!

Just in time! I recently quite randomly got 3 watches as a gift, two of them are dress style, and I definitely need to stock up on leather straps :) I bought some from Holben's, got them yesterday and unfortunately USPS absolutely destroyed the package. No idea how they managed to do that, maybe it fell off and their truck ran over it.. So waiting for my replacement, service has been outstanding from Holben's. But I'm definitely game for the alligator grain like this one, looks nice.

Damn you wear your watches tight. Thanks for the vid. I have other barton straps and like them all. I don't think I'll be getting the alligator strap though.

When it comes to leather watch straps, you get what you pay for. $28 won’t get you a quality strap. I’d have no problems putting this on my Hamilton or Seiko. But I’d have a hard time putting a $28 strap on my submariner or my motfm. For those, I go with handmade horween straps. Anything less just doesn’t feel right. Just my 2 cents.

That's closer to Royal blue than it is to navy. I have the toffee for my SARB035. It's pretty good. Stiff for a few weeks though. Just be patient and it will get flexible. Also, for those who don't know, "top grain" isn't "top quality." The "top" is a reference to where the leather is pulled during the rendering process, so essentially "top grain" is the "particle board" of leather.

I put a brown one on my alpinist because I like the look of the original strap. This one fits more comfortably.

:( Why are padded straps so often bolstered a lot right at the springbars, exactly where they have to be the most flexible? Uuuurgh.

Did you guys ever tried alligator straps from Vietnam? A lot of them on eBay, are they really genuine and how about the quality? Most of them are below $30 as well.

HarryUnchained I just tried both the padded and un-padded Vietnam models in brown from Amazon ($33 each). Very handmade feel, which is both positive and negative. The grain on the genuine crocodile was fantastic-seems they cut from the center with all of the ridges and larger scales. The negative is that they felt a bit flimsy-two very thin pieces of leather (top croc and inside cheap calf) with non-finished edges. The Barton straps are way better quality feeling for the same price-more attention to detail. Although I did like the huge range of Vietnam styles and colors.

IMO, you can definitely get better quality for less than $28.00. The one you use with your submariner was pretty nice though.

everyone is an engineer online lmao, you would have to have the strap super tight for a long time or jiggle the watch by the band for a long time. The guy who started the company is an engineer im sure he checked all that.

Yeah, not a fan of these straps. I purchased one for my Seiko Monster- not for me. It almost feels like cardboard when conformed to the wrist. It’s priced cheaper than most- and I should have known better oh what to expect.

Barton Straps: Fake American! "Designed in Austin (BFD). MADE IN CHINA." Almost exact products and MUCH more available on AliExpress or Alibaba for up to 1/10 the price. Why pay for trendy, misleading marketing? If you are going to wear Chinese, buy direct.

@@silverstone3228 As the quick-release system is more prone to failure than traditional spring bars, and the Omega Speedmaster being a fairly pricey watch, you could find yourself down a lot of cash very quickly. While the chances of it happening are rare, it's still something to consider.

Yeah, but there's some instances when faux luxury of this type is actually appropriate. For instance, I got a mid-1970s ZIM 2602 dress watch. My 18mm Barton toffee strap with gold buckle is perfect for filling out this role, as I wanted this watch to be immediately and obviously 70s.
