Bartholomew 'Black Bart' Roberts: The Last True Pirate (Pirate History Explained)

Ойын-сауық

Bartholomew Roberts was considered to be the most successful pirate who ever lived, and that's no exaggeration. He dominated the seas and would be remembered as the last pirates to close the curtain on the golden age of piracy.

Bartholomew Roberts was such a cool, cold, calm and calculated killer indeed at sea. His lavishingly style of fashion/dress and drinking of tea. As well as other oddly peculiar behavioral traits. I found them to be very interesting and animated about him. A superficial persona indeed for a pirate of his stature.

Regarding Roberts' burning the slave ship with slaves still aboard, this goes back to experiences during his childhood. He started his seafaring career as a boy aboard his father's merchant ship that was captured by pirates off the coast of East Africa. The survivors now without a ship were then captured by native Africans who either killed all adults or boiled them alive in large pots and cannibalized them. Only Roberts and another boy survived the ordeal. Roberts remained marooned for several years until rescued by another passing ship.

With all due respect THANK YOU!!!! For this video... Yet so many facts that are unknown... From my research most pirates were at war with the colonial forces/the state and slave owners. Black Bart was actually a Black man/navigator from Europe. Most history about pirates excludes slave ship rebellions. Its not a mutiny these slave /pirates have stole a colonizer's ship and without question are some of the bravest of all pirates. The freedom fighter "Pro Se" lawyer Sengbe Pieh (Cinque) of The Amistad uprising(1839) Stole the ship went to the supreme court WON and returned to Africa. The little George uprising of (1730) was well documented by the captain who speaks about the pirates ingenuity...

Bartholomew Roberts was my ancestor. On my maternal grandfather's side. He was a Welsh, Roberts descended from the same family line as "Black Bart". He was a mine safety inspector and payroll handler for the Westmoreland Coal Co. and kept quiet about that little detail of his family history, but our family all knew. I take exception with the notion that Bart was actually a woman in disguise. LOAD OF BULLSHIT! ✌

with so the stuff black bart came up with its kinda hard to believe he killed those slaves when inrealty its the victor who tells the story and this story came about at a time when being a pirate was no longer looked at as being ok aka the English started piracy and are the ones who told the stories about pirates and well Bart was an enemy of the English crown just like they claim Black Beard crashed his boat instead of him beaching it so they couldn't use it I truly don't believe their lies cuz Black Beard was one of the greatest pirates who took on mutli ships at one time and had multi ships underneath him and some even claim he could have been an admiral if he only served the queen so him crashing doesn't add up when English have been known for stealing ships and coping them and since the location was one of black beards favorite spots meaning he would know about the reefs and also since he crash the ship in such a way that it would have been going full speed straight into it witch complete made the ship useless as if he did it on purpose rather than an accident and on top of that the queen Anne's was on of the most fastest ships it was a slave ship refited to be even faster almost complete changed so yea a ship that great I would crash it too rather than let the English use it but bring me back to black bart what better way to tell people he is a bad guy than to say he killed slaves rather than him letting them go or allowing them to sail with him witch at the time wasn't unheard of most pirates either sold the slaves or allowed them to join almost none killed them all off witch black bart is the only pirate in recorded history to said to have done this so it doesn't add up to me and black Bart went to South Africa witch in certain areas there was certain items of value Asia has silk India had spice south America and the Spanish had gold and South Africa and the Portuguese had slaves so for him to sail there and just kill them wouldn't make sense since that at the time would be the only ships that where carring items of value get what I am saying so yea doesn't add up but now he is my second favorite pirate next to black beard of course and I love black beard not cuz of his stories but cuz of his legends and skills on what he could do and what he did do and how it was his mistake that caused him to lose not cuz he was bettered
