Angron's fate is perhaps one of the most tragic of all the Primarchs. Bred to be the most empathetic of his brothers and help bind them to one another and heal any feuds, and then the overlords on his homeworld enslave him and torture him again and again with the butchers nails dug into his brain. Forced to kill the innocent and his fellow gladiators over and over for the overlords entertainment, all the while feeling his victims emotions and pain, and with every kill the nails rewarded him with endorphins, slowly killing any emotive connections other than the desire to kill and spill blood. The Emperor had little choice and unable to remove the butchers nails without killing Angron, it was either destroy a broken tool or throw the little bit that remained back into the Crusade to conquer worlds for the Imperium, even if what remained was a shell of the Primarch he should have been. Then Angron goes and does the same as the overlords did and has his Legion adopt the nails as well to top it all off, damning them all to eternal damnation.

14:05 So, to explain the Horus Heresy a little more seriously, Horus rebelled because he was deeply worried for his future as the Great Crusade (the Emperor's mission to unify Mankind through diplomacy and force of arms and to destroy all particularly threatening alien civilizations) was slowing down. There was a victory at a planet called Ullanor, where the Primarchs and the Emperor crushed a major Ork warlord who represented essentially the last true threat to the Imperium's inevitable conquest of the galaxy at the time. After that, the Emperor announced his intention to retire to Earth to work on a secret project (this project being to tap into and bring under control the Webway so that Mankind wouldn't need to fuck with the Warp anymore, which would ideally cripple Chaos permanently), and appointed his most beloved son, Horus, to lead the Great Crusade from this point on as Warmaster. Now, Horus had a lot of insecurities over this promotion, and the Emperor didn't really do much to assuage them. He was evasive on the topic of what he was doing on Earth, which made Horus even more unsure because his dad (and Horus was found as a young boy, so unlike the other Primarchs the Emperor actually did raise him) didn't trust him with the information. Horus started to fear that what the Emperor was working on in secret was actually the replacement to the Space Marines and the Primarchs. He believed they were created to be highly sophisticated weapons of war for the Great Crusade, but that once the galaxy was completely theirs the Emperor would have no more need for them and take them out behind the shed like he did their predecessors the Thunder Warriors once Earth was reclaimed. Horus did not want to be erased and forgotten, and this possibility obviously distressed him. Then, he got hit by a tainted weapon which sent him into a coma. He was trapped in the warp and tormented by the Chaos Gods, who showed him visions of a future where he and his brothers were erased from history, where the Imperium had abandoned its high ideals of science and progress in favor of horrific oppression and blindly worshipping the Emperor, who ruled as God-Emperor from his throne on Earth. They heavily implied this was Horus' future unless he rebelled, he finally broke and the rest is history. The cruel irony here is that it was only his rebellion which ALLOWED such a future to happen. Yeah, the Chaos Gods are real dicks.

One of the biggest tragedies of the Blood Angels is that Sanguinius and Horus had a genuine loving brotherly bond. I'm talking giving each other punches on the shoulder or throwing grapes at each other just to annoy each other. This is why their duel is so tragic as Horus wanted Sanguinius to suffer unimaginable pain as he was being strangled. So regarding legions 2 and 11: Way back when humans hunted dinosaurs, Warhammer 40k was known as Rogue Trader. At the time, all 20 space marine legions were accounted for (the Rainbow Warriors and the Valedictorians). As Rogue Trader became 40k, the people at Games Workshop made changes to the lore to make it even grimmer and darker. The Rainbow Warriors and Valedictorians were changed into successor chapters of other legions and legions 2 and 11 were [REDACTED]. Their lore now as far as we know is that something happened during the early days of the Great Crusade, something so incredibly awful that even the Primarchs had their memories edited so even THEY did not know what exactly happened, only that whatever it was it could have completely invalidated everything the Emperor hoped to achieve through the Imperium. His special primarch power is to psychically absorb the pain and stress from those around him (he was basically the Emperors healer), but when the slavers who controlled his planet inserted the Butchers Nails into his head they broke that ability and put him in a perpetual state of pain and rage that was only mitigated by extreme violence - basically turning him into the opposite of what he was designed to be. That’s also why he was the first Demon Primarch, his brother (and only friend) Lorgar did it to save his life as the Nails were literally killing him.

The thing Bricky mentions about gaining knowledge by eating pieces, usually brain matter, of their enemies, is true for all Space Marines, not just the Space Wolves. The irony about the Blood Angels is that they are among the most caring and noble of the Space Marine legions next to the Salamanders, but have to constantly keep the Red Thirst at bay so they don't go vampire while also living with the permanent risk of falling to the Black Rage at the drop of a hat. Of course that is by 40k standards, so while their human servants can rise to actual positions of importance (though never really above a Space Marine), they are still essentially slaves. And ships still need a crew of thousands to operate, which outweigh the few that reach higher positions by a lot. Angron is probably the most tragic among the Primarchs. Supposedly, he would have been a powerful empath if not for the Butcher's Nails shoved into his brain by the people that kept him as a slave. With these, they could turn him into a raging berserker at a whim and, for example, force him to fight and kill his friends in the coliseum, which is way worse than the basically constant agony these things caused him (especially close to Psykers, which may be a remnant of his emphatic abilities). And removing him was apparently impossible even for the Emperor, at least without hampering him to the point that he was more useful as a ragemonster, even though the Nails were slowly killing him. He was hampered by this to the point that he didn't manage to take over his home planet, which he has in common only with Mortarion as far as I know. Though while for Mortarion, who was close to finishing the job, with basically one single enemy left behind a cloud of poison even he couldn't get through (yet), the Emperor swooped in to killsteal that last enemy (Mortarion's adoptive "father", so it was very personal), so he ended up in control of the planet (but never got over that killsteal), Angron was preparing to die the next day with his rebel army when the Emperor teleported him to his fleet, leaving everyone Angron cared about to die on the planed. And then the Emperor decided that the society on that planet was useful enough to not give the planet to Angron, so he didn't get to avenge his friends until the Horus Heresy. If memory serves right that was also what pushed him over the edge and led to his ascension into daemonhood (pushed by Lorgar to ensure the wouldn't die to the Naiils). He's also set to be released in daemon form early next year. 40k has tons of theme naming, but in many cases it's unclear who decided on the names (in universe). Independent from that, many names may very well influence the fate of people and planets. Or the other way round, since the warp has a tendency to mess with time. Let's just say it's not a good idea to name a planet Armageddon.

A lot of the Iron Hands are apart of the Adeptus Mechanicus I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the tech cult if you don't remember. That's why their ideas of the flesh being weak sound so familiar. Most Legions have a few Adeptus legionnaires or tech troopers to help maintain equipment, but because of their dual beliefs in the Emperor and the Ommessiah they aren't completely liked or trusted just like most Psykers are viewed.

For the Emperor's children. There is a scene in one of the books (said book is already full of tragedies and horror) That is quite possibly one of the darkest and most disgusting portrayals of the fall of a legion in 40k. 10/10 book, Highly recommend. Title: Fulgrim Perturabo was such chonk and impatient "I'll do ít myself" competence that he didn't have his own men guard him, he built robots to be his guards. That and he wore armor so strong he didnt need a drop pod, and would often just fire himself out of a voidship directly onto the surface of a planet to go kill stuff. The Space wolves are so loyal and utterly vicious and devastating that they were entrusted to be his executioners. The legion he would send to punish other legions. The iron hands would routinely (accidentally on purpose) leave their fleshy support workers and imperial guard regiments assigned to them behind, because they were more efficient and faster than them. One time they force marched an entire human army through a desert, losing a massive number of people in the process, because they wanted to be first to an objective. (The Marines of course, were fine) The Alpha Legion is HANDS DOWN my favorite legion. Mostly due to [REDACTED] and the eternal war between [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. The book about them, titled: Legion is a MUST READ. (This is a Lie) Hydra Dominatus

Summarized for the audience that still didn't understand what Bricky was explaining: Warhammer 40k takes place 40,000 years into the future hence the 41st millennium. Events in the franchise can take place before and after the 41st millennium. God Emperor aka Telepathic Superhuman with nigh-godlike powers that can bend time and space. Primearchs aka the genetically modified sons of the God Emperor and generals to their legions aka armies. Technically there are 21 primearchs... officially 20... by the time of the Horus Heresy there are 18 primearchs... Roman Numeral of the Legions: I. Dark Angels, II. UNKNOWN, III. Emperor's Children, IV. Iron Warriors, V. White Scars, VI. Space Wolves, VII. Imperial Fists, VIII. Night Lords, IX. Blood Angels, X. Iron Hands, XI. UNKNOWN, XII. World Eaters, XIII. Ultramarines, XIV. Death Guard, XVII. Word Bearers, XVIII. Salamanders, XIX. Raven Guard, XX. Alpha Legion. Legions II and XI (2nd and 11th) Legions were expunged from imperial records for unknown reasons. (Most probably because the authors wanted the audience to make up their own theories and stories about the unknown lost legions to expand to the vast universe of the Warhammer 40k lore.) There are also innumerable smaller detachments aka chapters of the main legions that have their own histories to explore. The Horus Heresy was basically a civil war. Interstellar travel is basically used in a very dangerous hellscape dimension aka The Warp aka basically Hell. In the warp there are daemons and what interdimensional nigh-all seeing "gods" aka very powerful personifications of chaos or sin that can literally shape the material world and space but mostly just the warp. There are also aliens that threaten humanity such as the Eldar (highly advanced but stagnant race of space elves), Necrons (super duper old necromancer terminators), Orks (super weapon fungi gone wrong), Tau (literally blue people who turn out to be really nice but are also a little communist), and the Tyranids (extragalatic space bugs from outside the galaxy and the void itself). For information about the Legions, this video basically summarizes each legion for you. Also the wiki fandoms also do a great job explaining in depth the details of the WH40k universe. Also thanks for reading and please subscribe, like, and share this reaction video. Chicago Reacts I found this video entertaining and I am glad you get to get a taste of Warhammer 40k!

Fun Bits: When Bricky says "Alpha Legion is heretical.... we think.." is because Alpha Legion is probably the only known and not expunged legion to be the most mysterious out of the 20 (18) legions. One of the Alpha Legion primearchs was a Loyalist and a Heretic... One of them died... so is Alpha Legion still a traitor legion or a loyalist legion? No one really knows except there are some tid-bits in the lore that suggest Alpha Legion is leaning towards loyalist since Chaos still has not actually won... Plot protection or did Alpha Legion (with their skills of spycraft) infiltrate Chaos and are sabotaging the chaos forces from within?

Fyi, there were originally 20 legions, but for some reason two legions we're expunged from history. No reason is given. Implied that their Primarchs and/or legions suffered a serious mutation in their gene-seed. Following the Horus Heresy where half the legions turned traitor and rebelled against the Emperor, one of the Primarchs (Roboute Gulliman) wrote the Codex Astartes which is literally the handbook of the Space Marines. Organization, tactics, etc The 9 remaining legions were broken up into Chapters of 1000 Space Marines. The purpose was that if there was another Horus, they would not have the immense resources to use against the Imperium again. The purpose of this was so that players of Space Marines don't have to limit themselves to just 9 Space Marines but different successors or design their own. (You like the lore on the Dark Angels but you don't like the Green color, preferring Black or Blue etc). Maybe you decide to design your Space Marine chapter around Astartes from a Traitor Legion who remained loyal (plenty of lore to back that) Or perhaps (in older editions) your Chapter is from the Lost Legions.

They're placeholders for the community, so that anyone can make their own Astartes Legions / Chapters, and there's two of them so that you can homebrew both Loyalist and Traitor Legions / Chapters.

6:02 - Yeah, he didn't bleed out or anything because of his Larraman's Organ (aka the Healer), one of the implants that a Space Marine gets. You can actually see the cells moving and coagulating when he puked up blood on arrival at the end of Astartes.

Angron is a reference to the story of Spartacus and not necessarily just about being angry.

JUST found your channel and I loved it. Plus I fell in love with you at that same time, LOL. All jk aside, yeah, it was love at first site for me. The throwing knives are cool, I practice with them all the time. I love that you loved the Salamander's and the Alpha Legion. I play Black Templars myself, but I LOOOOOVE those two chapters. Your excitement was so awesome to see :D

It appears that all people who find Space Marines not that cool end up liking Salamanders & Alpha Legion. Probably because they break off the Space Marine standard.

The second and Eleventh legions are the two that were expunged from Imperial records, both of which lost to history along with their primarchs for... reasons.
