    My GOAT. 1st time I saw him I was 4 in 1980. I remember him & Scott McGhee winning the FL Tag Team Title vs The Assassins and crying my eyes out when Jake Roberts collected on a bounty. There was nothing Barry couldn't do. Greetings from West Palm Beach

    Barry’s 1990-93 WCW work is very underrated. He turned a few times but the one where him and Dustin had the tag team break up & Windham turned Heel at the Clash in late 92 was some great stuff.

    Barry is the absolutely on of my favorite in ring worker. so smooth, strong, and quick. my favorite bump was the one he'd take over the top rope to the floor into the rail. looked real, was phsyically incredible to watch for a man his size and definitely was part of the best four horseman lineup. Wish you'd gotten more time to talk to him. billy jack haynes (not super reliable) tells a story of how a young BW shat in his hat and Billy Jack got permission from Black Jack to fight BW. I'd love to hear BW give his story for the record the only match i know of that windham and spivey were in together was the 92 starrcade battle royal to finish the battlebowl lethal lottery. but maybe they faced off in some house shows LOVE that barry didn't want to plug anything at the end. very on brand

    I was at the Windham-Luger match in person. I was pissed off that Flair went off to join the circus. One thing about Flair "always having the same match" is that I think that his style was ideal for a traveling championship (which his NWA belt was for many years). The idea of Flair having the same match week after week on television was the problem.

  • @JamesBuddell-fn6bz

    @JamesBuddell-fn6bz

    2 ай бұрын

    The concept of the traveling champion was to retain the title and also put the local baby face from that territory over. He had to make the local top guy look better than him. It gives legitimacy to that territory and it also sells tickets for the return match when he comes back. Flair would get dominated but would always pullout the win, out of his ass, at the end. Nobody played that role better than Ric Flair. He was the ultimate traveling champion.

  • @gregorykrug8034

    @gregorykrug8034

    2 ай бұрын

    @@JamesBuddell-fn6bz I agree, Flair was a perfect traveling champion, but before KZread and the deaths of the territories, locals may not have seen Flair wrestle that often, so his spot where he flips over the turnbuckle and runs the apron before getting caught on the neighborsing top rope would have seemed fresh. His flop spot may have actually surprised fans in 1980, but it became a bigger surprise when he did not do it on TBS.

    JAMES, I have a suggestion for the future. Your questions are always great, well researched and insightful, but I would love to hear guys be given an opportunity to talk about something they never get asked about...I know some of these guys need some more prompting than others or it goes off the rails, so I'm sure you know best. Just a suggestion. Great preparation and great job working around what these guys want to talk about and keeping it moving. Great job, bro.

    I think Widow Maker was supposed to fit BlackJack as like the Cowboy who leaves pushing up Daisies hehe. If gave Larry some Scratch Off Tickets he would not have sandbagged. The Sid story is good. Road Warriors were the big draw if making 750K not Flair hehe. The Andre story when getting pulled over on way to BAr is great. Him having to run out of Puerto Rico to Car is funny. I liked Stan was not into Midnight Express until he joined. I guess Bobby Eaton was ready for those Dog Collar matches or into Woman when had that gimmick. Ole don't seem popular or well liked but did laugh pretty well when ShockMaster fell or tripped. I barely remember his Bro or the team. I see him in Four Horsemen with Luger over Ole. Crownette Drinking a Beer ;).
