Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy Part 1 Full Race | Revival 2016
Спорт
There was plenty of drama in the part one of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy race at Revival this year. The two wheeled spectacle featured classic bikes from Norton and Triumph cutting through the downpour with legendary riders like John McGuinness and Michael Dunlop in control.

Spoke to the Rudge owner today at Oulton Park (where it went well against much more modern tackle),he told us to watch this race...brilliant win :)
I'll never forget seeing this live. It was frightening and excitement at the same time!

I have a 1958 racing bicycle, no mods aside from slightly more modern brakes and chain, still give it the beans to a point. No point hanging these machines on walls or sitting in a museum, they were meant to race.

@@ynotnilknarf39 kudos to you man ! may i know what kind of bikes you own ?
A 1933 Rudge going that well. Absolutely unreal. Good wood always has amazing racing.
These bikes are museum pieces but they’re still going for it, proper racing, great to watch. Awesome riding.
This is why us old guys like nostalgia.
As Kenny Roberts said about racing in the rain...It's still a race, it's just raining.
Epic riding and epic entertainment!!!! I love that this Barry Sheene MT race was kept going by the race controller for as long as possible in the rain. Barry was The Rain Meister and would have approved!
My '70 BSA Royal star was the best transport year-round for eight years in sun and rain driving to work in Vancouver. Love these old dears.
Charlie Williams and Mike Farrell beat the lot on a 1933 TT Rudge, heroic, splendid, superb!

Sometimes better to have a loose bike in the wet. That bike will have many modern components and re-engineered tolerances within it. I owned a 1937 500 Special, wish I`d kept it.
ignore my ignorance pls, this is the first time I've watched this type of racing.. I don't use the word often but i'm willing to make an exception here: i fckn LOVE this on so many levels! ;}

Watching this with my father in law talking about his days hounding corners of a 500cc triumph... this racing is special
You might think you look cool on your motorcycle, but you're not Dragging knee, in the rain, while riding a museum piece cool, that's for sure.

You don't know you don't know what your not knowing . Well maybe now you do, but still, probably no smarter for it. At the end of the day, keeping the rubber side down, that's cool.

This is absolute great stuff... this proves one thing... "The Rider, the Bike and the Conditions", three factors to fail or succeed. Just love the ancient races much much more than the modern one's!!! Goodwood shines again ;-)
It's fascinating seeing these old bikes ridden with modern techniques.
I absolutely am enjoying this race!!!! Classic bike with Iconic riders! It doesn't get any better and the worry of someone getting killed is not so great. That's the best part.👍👍
These guys are nuts! This is so awesome!! 😂😂.
How could anyone give this a dislike?
I love your enthusiasim and the racing is wicked ! Man! "Two stroke, no joke!" Great racing# Two thumbs up👍👍
Even while falling he maintains a tight grasp on the handle bar Edit: apparently he was trying to grab the clutch to prevent the engine from stalling. Absolutely brilliant!

Wow, what a great race! As a long time corner worker, watching these guys throwing it about in the wet is so exciting. And wet racing really shows who's comfortable on the bike.
Charlie Williams, balls of solid brass on that Rudge.
Brilliant pilots on brilliant bikes!!!
Could watch this over modern gp anyday real competition of skill
The Rudge was loving the wet conditions, I feel these old bikes have a soul and where re living old memories of days gone by : ) great fun to watch.

My father handed on the legend of Rudge to me. Telling me stories of his youth with BSA's Norton's and Vincent's. He told me Rudge amalgamated with Whitworth an engineering company and British manufacturer. Whitworth established the standard BSB or British Standard Whitworth. I still have some Whitworth spanners in my tool chest. Reminds me of Rudge when I come across them.
Imagine the race this would have been if Troy had stayed on! All kudos to the Rudge though, absolutely amazing!!
Crikey that’s a fantastic race. I honestly cannot watch any road racing now, I still enjoy speedway but any other motorcycle racing I can’t get into. This, though, is awesome! All of the Goodwood racing is just brilliant, no matter the category.
This is just brilliant! I love how these guys go to the limit on their vintage bikes.

these guys lean on water, riding ancient bikes, more than i do on a modern bike on dry roads.. brb, setting myself on fire.

I'm sure their tires are brand new with good tread, warmed to a good temperature, and the track is spotlessly clean and perfectly smooth. If you fall on a race track (like Corser does here), absolutely nothing happens, there's barely any risk. If you have a slide IRL, you get wrapped around a tree, light pole, etc. So don't worry about it, road and track riding are completely different.

The Small Tires are also quite good in the Wet, where larger ones tend to Float . Shame that the BMW fell so early though.

This is fascinating. In terms of entertainment this blows NASCAR away.
Class act by Goodwood and all the racers involved as usual. I was lucky enough to attend a couple of events there , and let me tell you , between this and any Canadian motorcycle event , there is NO COMPARSON . At Goodwood we saw competitors treating each other with respect and good natured friendship . The races were run in a competent and professional manner . At Canadian events , of which I have attended AND competed in MANY , there exists such a culture of attitude , both arrogant and mean natured , that true enjoyment of the sport is difficult to achieve . As well , Canadian " fans" tend to be the least loyal when it comes to standing by " their " favorite riders when someone has an off day and doesn't make the podium . That in fact suited us fine because if we came in 3 rd or forth place , we didn't have to worry about some " fan " making off with a " souvenir " from our pit area should we win that day. On the weekends we did win , the security ropes came out before the brown nose " fans" would descend on us . My mechanic even had his wallet lifted from his back pocket one day at Shannonville when he was standing too close to our security ropes around our pits. Of coarse being Canada , there were " no " witnesses .
Um espectáculo extraordinário! Estas motos são obras de arte e os pilotos eram aventureiros destemidos! Desde criança que adoro estas máquinas e respectivos pilotos! Obrigado!
I love these memorial races!
This incredible to watch! Great bikes, great skill!
Watching In California.. cheers!!
This race is too much fun! Love it.
Wow! Fantastic racing, what a joy to watch.
absolutely amazing
Brilliant! Some very good bikes there....thanks.
Surprisingly I knew so many names in this race..
Troy puts it on John at the start ? Then John takes back the lead again from Troy before both riders can make the first lap of racing handle bar to handle in the rain on ventage thunder bikes ? Priceless literally , priceless footage! And for Troy 15 sec. of fame and braging rights running with the big dogs !
OK, I know the Rudge isn’t THAT much older than the other bikes, and WW II did put a damper on the development of motorcycle technology, but how the hell did it not only keep up with all the other bikes, but pass them too?!?! Just incredible- great riders, and a great race!

Wonderful Race !!!
It's such a shame it ended that way with so many great riders involved, they must have been really pissed off,all the same,so entertaining by these men
Seeing this makes me feel inspired to get my '77RS out of the shed.
Met Mike Farrell on the ferry back from the TT. If you read this you have my admiration and respect for throwing that beautiful Rudge round that soaking track in such a skilled way. Fantastic riding
We were there, just by Lavant. It looks good on KZread, but incredible in real life.
The best thing that could have happened to me, was taking my first training during two days of insane, cold, April showers. They said "rain or shine" - We didn't see any "shine." By regulations they had to give us the choice to refuse taking the final graduation test, it was raining that hard on the last afternoon. F' that was the collective response.
This is awesome
I love the racing of old bikes, the cars are great too.
Go the Aussies! Troy Corser grew up not all too far from me, and even when he was busy he’d always stop to say hi to someone who wound recognise him Top bloke
Love classic racing
Hosey on a charge ,would've love to see it finish to see results .Nice guy who races all different from enduro to race circuits an as good as the best .I first met him when I was 9 and he was bike shop mechanic havin lunch, he heard me asking for a carb and shop would only sell me new one , he said hang on I got a box in the back , routed the right carb out and said go pay a couple a quid .i always think of him highly to bother to help out younger kid to keep them riding
The youngest ladies there are about 60 yrs old and they're going full beans. How not to love Goodwood.

gotto love watch these old girls getting used the way they were intended
fantastic
This is why I love motorcycles.
That beemer got some punch against 25 years newer bikes. wow. btw gotta love the Norton
In the rain, killing it! Great riding! Especially on those old slow ass English bikes, well done!
That was awesome.
Cal Crutchlow's dad is out there?! Awesome.
Ah I remember this I watch this last year at my home in 2020 it was a crazy race
legends on vintage bikes with vintage rules in the rain makes quite amazing racing. note these bikes have the shifter and back brake on the opposite sides. I own a BSA and it's tough to learn.

Amazing how these guys can make those Old bike's go faster than an average riders could go on New bikes
I want to know what tires (tyres for my friends in the UK) they are running.
I know it's a Barry Sheene memorial race, but I still wish he could have been there racing.
You’d think there would be more crashing. I like that they don’t crash these beautiful old bikes.
Sorry, but at 11.30 that’s not a Vincent Grey Flash, more like a Norton twin.
With the given suspension, brakes and tires there doing very respectable lap times!
CHE SPETTACOLO
I'd be so afraid of hurting the bike more than I would worry about getting hurt myself. I'm sure those guys probably felt the same way.
Ian Duffus was on a Norton Twin not a Vincent.
Came for Corser! That's too bad.
We've NEVER heard of the " Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy" in Hull,UK in Corona virus lockdown period in 2020!!..... :)
WOW!!!
Those magnificent men and their "flying" machines !! Now wasn't that fun...
Rudge was a great maker would love to see a Scott flying Squirrel in the crowd .
