Baroness - Tourniquet [Official Music Video]
Bought an artificial heart and its broken,
It never started.
Please operator take it out of here.
Don’t let it be the death of me.
It filled my bloodstream up with poison and ashes,
Now I’m starving
Don’t ever let me go my sweet amphetamine,
Holding on, all alone.
Somebody throw me a tourniquet,
I’m open-hearted.
I took a shot in the dark and I’m wasted,
Start it all again.
I tried to save myself from a heart attack,
But I had it coming.
Another shot to my cardiac did not start it up.
Wake me up on the ocean floor.
A storm’s passing overhead,
Warning me to come ashore.
In the blink of an eye,
My heart still breaks,
My blood still waits,
I’ll never sleep alone.
I’ve got an artificial heart.
It beats but I can’t feel a thing.
It’s an unofficial part.
It bleeds but I’m already gone.
Better hurry up with the tourniquet,
‘Cuz I’m open hearted.
Please operator take it out of here,
And start it up.
I’ve got an artificial heart.
It beats but I can’t feel a thing.
It’s an unofficial part,
It bleeds but I’m already gone.

I absolutely love the fact that Baroness never conforms to a typical song structure... normally you get verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus... baroness might give you a five minute intro, two lines, and a three minute outro

Same with intronaut, you’ll get a long intro, they’ll sing a few lines, they’ll play for a couple minutes with no lyrics at all, then you MIGHT get something resembles a chorus, and then another couple minutes of music with no lyrics 😂😂

Their songs are like a fluent story, it doesn't go where it should, it goes where it needs to.
I feel like I could lay on that comfy bassline with a warm blanket and have the most restfull nap of my life
The star turn of this album is Nick Josts bass.

This audiophile bullshit needs to stop. This is experimental sludge metal. Don't like the mix, go listen to something else. It sounds this way intentionally. No need to shit all over someone elses art.

One thing I really dig about Baroness.. Is they're so good at writing tasty hooks.. but they don't grind them into the dirt and rely solely on that one hook.. It's like.. here's a little tasty nugget.. Oh.. now we're going this way.. Ohh. there it was again.. bye.. now it's onto something else.. Definitely keeps you engaged and guessing where the song's going next.

Wow, I’ve never been super into this band but I’m pleasantly surprised. This has almost a post punk influence to it, and I’m digging the summery vibe.
a year later, countless listens and it's still just as brilliant as the first time I heard it!
I actually discovered this amazing band thanks to my reply on a post in everskies that said “giving you a song based on your avatar” last year and I got this one.. decided to actually listen to it a few months ago and still can’t believe how they’re so underrated
Watched them before Volbeat concert in Amsterdam 19/11 - I must say the girl on the guitar was amazing, top class passionate guitarist and musician
