Utilities and permits vary A LOT depending on your municipality. For my area in Louisiana I spent $400 on permits $215,000 on 27acres (that was in a flood zone so I had to build it up over Utilities and permits vary A LOT depending on your municipality. For my area in Louisiana I spent $400 on permits $215,000 on 27acres (that was in a flood zone so I had to build it up over time) $1,800 Water meter $1800 $3,500Sewer system $3500 $4,000 Electricity The wind rating is 150 engineer stamped (that is the building alone without spray foam and framing on the inside) The bathroom counters and sinks are included in the countertop price of this video. I guess I should have elaborated a bit more there. I didn't include the appliances because you can spend as much or as little as you want depending on taste.

Why would you waste money painting over the spray foam (ceiling) when you are not going to see it? Especially painting it black? It'll be a lot darker in the "attic space" if you need to make repairs later on. Should've left it white/yellow.

Maybe talk through design, layout, steps you take, how to size a system, costs for different types of systems, different brands and your thoughts about them, custom vs a standard installs, parts, etc. With your cost breakdowns, we understand it’s dependent on the part of the country you live in, availability of equipment and so on. I don't want to knock your barn build but it looks a bit flimsy, it's fine for a bachelor. I recently built a 1,500 SQ Foot brandominium and it was easily up to $300K - I did some of the labor but most of the labor I did hire. The building was approx $75,000, putting it together another $45,000. I noticed your main posts are not that thick red iron and look more like aluminum same with your trusses. Concrete was approx $15,000, Plumbing was approx $19,000. Electrical was about $17,000 , water well was approx $25,000, Electrical Junction Box $15,000 not to mention land was another $55K. Windows approx $18k, insulation ( I did foam 3 inch close seal ) $20K - it is a metal building and you will cook or freeze in that thing. Oh and had to still wood frame inside that was another $15K Drywall and Paint $45K Cabinets $20K, Flooring laminate Wood $20,000K , Marble Counter Tops $12K Fireplace$14K, HVAC$20K Oh and all of this does not include the GARAGE... Can't wait to see that bill!

Oh, wow! Where are you from? Those contractor and material prices are much higher than what I'm used to seeing. I have a 30x30 red iron shop also. Definitely a different construction style. The tubular buildings have a support and truss every 5 feet. Red iron is typically 15 feet spans. For half the price and still get 150MPH wind rating, I went with the tube steel building.

This is the price breakdown for the house only. Utilities and permits vary A LOT depending on your municipality. I can include those prices, but it would be misleading for anyone that doesn't live in the same area as me. The bathroom counters and sinks are included in the countertop price of this video. I guess I should have elaborated a bit more there. The dishwasher was $400. I didn't include the appliances because you can spend as much or as little as you want depending on taste. I talked about the mirror in the walkthrough video. It's something I had laying around, so it didn't cost anything.

Great video! Custom cabinet maker here… Those are not “custom” cabinets. You may have a few custom sized cabinets, but those are very basic. For the linear foot of cabinetry you had, most custom cabinet shops would run you over 20k. Sounds and looks like yours came from a production shop. And that’s a great value choice! But I wouldn’t call them custom.. people will be quite surprised when they contact an ACTUAL custom cabinet shop and the quote comes back as double or more of the price of your cabinets.

Just a question, wouldn't it be better to case the house in Zip sheathing? That way your spray foam is attaching to the panel instead of the exterior metal? I would think that would be better for a moisture barrier and in case you ever had to replace some of the metal outside, you wouldn't have to disturb your spray foam insulation.

The concrete is 6" thick like yours but we installed radiant heating in the floor (with a boiler). My concrete cost 3x of yours so you got a great deal. There is no AC. We have hot/cold water and a framed in bath with no shower installed yet. The building is 24' high with two 10'x10' garage doors and two man doors (my man doors cost $1800 each...). There is a second floor over 1/3 of the building. This is done for storage and cost a lot more than the first floor (the second floor sqft was expensive compared to the first floor sqft). It's fully insulated with metal on the inside and full blown-in insulation in the finished ceiling. There are 9 other windows. I had some higher costs in leveling the land. If you don't mind sharing, how much was the lot and utilities? Are you on public utilities or do you have well/septic, what about electric? Also how far away is your location from the closest city/suburb for access to services/amenities like groceries, stores, businesses, etc. I'm curious, because I want to do the same thing. It's hard to find a lot for a decent price that is anywhere near civilization. Low price lots are often super rural, and don't have access to water/sewer/gas/electric/internet/etc. In some cases it might take nearly that whole 80k budget just to get utilities ran to the property. Going off grid wouldn't be any cheaper.

Glidden Premium Interior Paint+Primer is $112 for 5 gallons at Home Depot. Individual gallons are $24.98. I used 20 gallons just on the ceiling, lol. Probably another 20 in the rest of the house and still under $1k.
