At 5:00 I used your laser level trick and was able to be more accurate than spirit level. I mount my laser level 2-3 inches above the desired cabinet height across from my workspace. Then I find low spot and set my speed square on the top of the cabinet and use that distance as the reference line. Every spot on every cabinet should be at the distance/reference line.

just as an FYI when you are trimming PVC down like that, you can protect your Pex by sliding a short piece of PVC over it while you trim it down. I've done it as an electrician to protect wires when I've had to lower a meter to install a Transfer Switch for a whole house generator. It even speeds things up a bit; because you don't have to take as much time to be careful not to nick anything! just for your information if you're interested.

My knees hurt just watching you kneel down a lot. I would need a foam pad to help me last through the job! It's nice to have the correct tool for the job! Great job, and thanks for more good content!

Don't think most people associate the trades with new/high tech but new tools & techniques coming out all the time. Countertop measure was very cool.

Great episode... A few things learned after 40 years of trim carpentry : No tool belts when installing cabinets or around finished items, too easy to scratch something. Use a countersink bit to predrill the styles along with 2-1/2" grk wood screws, then fill the hole with the putty from the cabinet mfg. Love the channel!

It's just fun watching this dude work, I bought the big gun to build my pole barn and the gun fell apart after 50 nails! They didn't use thread lock on anything, I had to tear it apart and thread lock everything, $1,200 gun works great now.

Photo control points used in photogrammetry. Two overlapping photos will tie the photos together at the “dots”. The 20” will be each model. Then triangulation generates the numbers to stitch the images into one large photograph that is accurate, in this case probably to a millimeter or two.

I would use a transmission jack to lower that sink base cabinet enough to get the pipes all through the bottom.

There is a 1 degree back bevel on that track saw! I hv it and it allows what u did with the sander to be done when you make your cut out! Tell Greg bout that one also Kyle then; we’ll wait u are already the man!

Hey Kyle I also use the makita track saw. I use a 2 pass method on cabinets. I take advantage of the score stop feature then finish with full depth cut. Leave an awesome cut with no taping.

Just shows how important it is to get everything square/plumb/level from the ground up. A little extra time getting started right will save you hours & hours making everything fit right all the way down to the trim.

You need to get some 3rd hand tools for setting the upper cabinets. They work super good for any cabinets and i always find more uses for them

I see your double span clamp trick there!

Kyle! Get some cabinet clamps! You’ll love them! They. Clamp the cabinets together but also flush the face frame out, basically a double direction clamp! There about $50 a pair!

Every countertop company in my area does exactly what this guy is doing. I'm shocked to hear "we're one of the only ones" because his method is pretty much what everybody does here in the Greater Detroit area.

I work as carperter in Germany and I realized how primitive cupboards are in US.

When I was working on a building site the cabinets came in with a Blue film on to protect them,!! the lady that was buying the house walked on site, without permission!!, and started complaining, so me and the manager went to the house and asked what the problem was? the lady complained and said I want ALL these cabinets taken down as I didnt ask for BLUE Cabinets!!, I went and pulled a strip of the blue cover off, and just looked at her!, she went Red with embarrasment, and was told by the manager to stay off site untill house was finished, she walked off. Good job Kyle.

So much respect for the way you work RR! Someone already know how the countertop measurement system is call?

Only thing I'd do differently is get yourself (or make them) some flat shims. You don't want to use those wedge shims. Make them out of wood and multiple thicknesses, including a near paper thin backer sheet. Also, don't have the shim sticking out the front. Stick it out the side of the cabinet where the other cabinet will be sitting next to it. Then you can use those same shims for the next cabinet, and guarantee that those two cabinets will be at the same level. Then just level up the other side and repeat. Also prevents you from accidentally kicking the shim, or having to trim the excess shim off the a multi-tool.

Ur kitchens r so different to r kitchens Kyle. We have adjustable legs on r units and no face frames. 🇮🇪🤙

You should countersink the screws you use to attach the face frame. I use regular construction screws. Match the color if possible. Then use the grk pan head cabinet screws to mount the cabinet to wall. That way if you can’t hide a face frame screw behind a drawer it’s still pretty hidden.

Hide them behind a hinge plate. All my hinges have the exact spacing so I know exactly where I can put the face frame screws to be hidden by the hinge plate!!

How many of your fingernails did you bite off worrying about how good your walls were for the countertop? Great job! I was amazed at how easily you installed those cabinets and did it flawlessly.

Kyle. Great work and I gain from watching you and I'm, grabbing all the details. But I must ask why would the sink pipes came from under the cab? If The plumber missed the layout I would absolutely demand that he cut the concrete and move all my pipes to the back of the cabinet. Agreed. I always do a 2×6 at 28" aff.

Couple things. I can't tell if you clamps have a cushion on them but if the don't when you tighten the up as you join them together your going to leave an indention in the style. Also why are you using large head screws to join the cabinets? Use small trim head screws so they are not visible. Then you can cut plugs to fill them.

Do you think tapcons are better than drop in anchors for a half wall like that, Kyle? I am thinking, with drop-in anchors, you would be able to use bolts and washers to add more stability to the half wall. I've heard people I work with complain about them not holding, but I've found that when I use the set tool for them and drive them firmly to set them, they are very solid anchors.

I am interested in the dust collector that is in front of the vacuum at about the 20:00-20:30 mark. Does it work well? What brand? Would you recommend it? Will it deal with fine dust?

What do you do with all those shims that stick out from the bottom?

excess air gets pushed out, similar to a rubber valve, that's what creates the suction he's referencing. Shocking how well this works.

Man I just don’t trust counter tops without a subtop. They may say it’s not required but as often as people jump up to sit on counters seems like cheap insurance to put down some subtop.

I’m surprised you still shim your bottom cabinets, here in England and Europe we use adjustable feet that you can turn up or down

Man, I hate those sinks. Under mount is nice, but having to expose it in the front looks bad in my opinion.
