1973 Suzuki GT550 Indy Three Cylinder Two Stroke Barn Find!!!
This bike has been sitting for about 10 years so it definitely has some problems. To start, the gas tank is rusted up like the titanic and it has subsequently leeched its problems into the carburetors. Watch me dive head first into this mess (without a lifeboat).

    Rhetorical question...Why would you "scrub" the carburetor internals before disassembly. Fragile brass floats beware. Oh well.👍🏼

    I’m not sure why you don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner for carbs. You should always leak test those old brass floats while they’re out.

    Vital to get the oil pump working good and all the ports and check valves, or youll blow the lower end pretty quickly on the first ride. Also, dont trust the ebay or amazon cheapo jet kits. They are way oversized and mis-marked. You will be chasing a bad running bike for days with those stupid wrong size jets and needles. By the way, just using some premix wont work good on this. The oil system is ported to places that the fuel wont reach by itself. I tried defeating the system on mine, and it doesnt work easily. I rebuilt mine from the ground up and know every little part pretty well.

    I owned a Suzuki GT550A from 1987 until 2022. II even rebuilt it once, after it decided to throw a left hand big end rod bearing. Here's a few pointers: The engine has "feet" on the rear, so that it stands up like a number 7. This is to aid the reassembly of the motor's casing bolts, which have to be inserted and tightened down in a strict top & bottom pattern. Standing it up like a number 7 saves the tiresome hastle of having to keep flipping it over. The GT380 and GY750 also have this feature. To balance the carbs, put the bike on its centre stand (a herculean achievement, in itself) and open the throttle enough to trap 3 pencils or welding rods under the carb sliders. Close the throttle. Look along the pencils / rods and adjust the individual carb gate nuts until all are in alignment.

    Friend. Down in little old Chrischurch New Zealand as two 15 year olds, myself and friend Jon would have that thing wheeled to my house and running by 5pm !!!. Choke is shared , carb 2-3. See the sharing rubber hose. nope Kwaka H2 has 3 chokes. Yamaha RD 350 air cooled has 1 and it's shared.

    Kawasaki S and H series both use 3 enrichment plungers. Strange suzuki chose to use 2.

    Can you please share the link to that service manual? I’ve got my carbs pulled off and soaking in diesel now, the throttles / slide are stuck 😢

    U don't clean floats with brass brushes or lay the floats on concrete,they should be stripped carefully & individual parts cleaned carefully,.."Cringe"🥴
