Cheers! Rare to see one in Burgundy nowadays. Neil is a great mover of cars. He delivered one for us a couple of weeks back. No dramas; just left under our barn, while we were away picking up another car. Perfect.

Beautiful car the mark2 granada estate
Back in the day i worked with a guy that had the 2.8 Ghia X model in black it was his pride and joy it was spotless the drive superb.
Remember visiting the local Ford dealership as a 12 yr old in 1977/8 when these were new and just being amazed at the luxury they were compared to our Mk.3 Cortina L. Kids used to be able to go in and roam around in those days and take a few brochures..I remember the list price of a 2.8 Ghia-X saloon being £7995 in 1977.

The 1977 factory price list I have says about a grand less (minus options), and the Ghia X label didn't come in until '82. For a while it wasn't even the very top one you could get, there was also the Ghia X Executive!
Back when I was in my 20s that was my dream car! Even the colour is exactly what I wished for! My Dad had Fords for company cars from 1970, right through to when he retired in 1986! Just seeing the interior brings back lots of memories of his Ford Cortina 2.0 Ghias. He had a several of them over the years. I hope it makes a decent amount for the owners family. Jonathan.

Heck of a lot better looking Granada than we had here in the U.S.
Super cars for thier day, nice to see one

@@bmwman1981 They are not hard to find, you can still buy them new, but they are hard to find cheap. Cheapest i have seen is around 300 euro, but it ranges from 300-550. So it is one of the more expensive thing to change. You get the same rims in 14", but it looks abit of. I actualy have a set with studs, and one set of summertires, and like 10-12 TRX rims.
Beautiful !!!!!
I bought it ,then sold it ,has now had a full restoration nut and bolt .
Sick as a parrot that I never kept my 2.8 injection manual saloon🙏

Thank you. It does seem to be another one of those cars that people look back at with fond memories. I looked inside and it still looks like it would a comfortable place to sit.
What an awesome car but they do rust like mad. That AutoTrader estate for £28k has been for sale for ages.
Well done 👍✅ lovely motor 😅
I would like to see who gets this great car and if it has a nut& bolt restoration my first boss had the saloon 2.8 Ghia two tone Silver and blue with the same wheels and as a young boy I had to wash and wax it every Saturday morning I loved doing this job I had to clean the wheels with a toothbrush 😂 l couldn’t drive it as I only had my provisional license 😢 it had all the bellies and whistles and I think air con what a great car 😊
Wow, like that
Had 2 of them but in saloon one was a 2.8 ghia X my second one was a 2.8i ghia x loved them cars
Going for auction shortly here in Norfolk!
True estate car massive 💪😎so cool my uncle had few of them back in the days a unappreciated car. Now we want em 🤣

The YT algorithm threw your channel at me, for whatever reason, with this find of a Ford 2.8. I think it’s the quickest I’ve ever subbed to a channel. As a kid who had a Ford Fiesta Xr2 mk2, this is definitely a Chanel for me. This is going to be great. 👍🏻👍🏻

I had a Y reg 2.8 ghia Xi estate back in the mid 80's , stuck to the road like glue with that extra weight on the back , I've got a 3 litre mk 1 consul granada now , picked it up near Munich 10 years ago , 1 owner from new car , GXL saloon
Wow, you made that look hard!
I’ve always loved these cars and I owned a Granada saloon ghia all leather interior I believe it was the 3.0 ltr model which was automatic. But my love for these cars started when I passed my test back in 86 where my uncle gave me his ex company car which was part of his retirement package and it was a 2.0 ltr cortina estate estate ghia in what I’d describe as metallic racing green with black vinyl roof and I can still remember the number plate which was WNL741T and the miles I covered in that car and the fun I had as a young man as with it been an estate there was plenty of room in the back!!!! I later bought another cortina in 95 which was a saloon model which was the GL model and that car we went on our honeymoon in. There is just something magical about these old cortina’s and I believe they were the best car that Ford produced and were easy to work on if they ever broke down and none of mine ever did they definitely were the most reliable car I’ve had. And I’m still into fords today having the focus st estate.

Brilliant! He's quite a character, Stuart. And the fact that he was game enough to allow me to film his car, twice, is really appreciated.
Gawd, we used to think that trashy American interior was modern and smart! I used to drive Granadas for Hertz and it was in one of those that I had my first big fright - turned the wheel to go round a sharp corner and the big squelchy heavy monster just carried on in a straight line!
I want the mk1 capri in the corner! My first car!
had a mk 1 estate i was converting to a 2.3 from a 3litre engine was missing but the man who was in with me couldnt wait and sold it for peanuts never did anything else with him about 30 years ago some one got a fantastic bargain

I had a mark one ghia and a mark 2 ghia. I much preferred the mark 1.
It's funny how the proportions of 80s cars look quite strange nowadays. The rear end from behind the rear doors backwards looks like it doesn't balance out the rest of the car. Window looks way too big! Never thought that when I was a kid and wanted one of these though!😁
I had one of those. if I took it really easy on the motorway I could just get 20 miles to the gallon. I actually sold it at Anglia car auctions must be about 30 odd years ago, when I lived in that part of the world.

After the sale at Anglia Car Auctions, it did appear on eBay a couple of times. Somebody told me recently that the car has now been retrurned to the road, but I haven't seen it yet.
I guess pretty much ANYTHING that was rear wheel drive in the day is now something to build or save or hot rod or well anything. LOL. Because when cars like this and in Canada it was the Fairmont or Fairlane (pretty much the same thing unless you go back to the mid 1970's and early 80's when we still had the Granada too but they were considered the most gutless ham wagon around back then LOL. Unless you got your hands on a V8 351 or 302 V8 with the 4 speed on the floor but they were as rare as hens teeth. We did actually get the Capri down (up?) here from 1970 to 1976 then it turned into a lame Fox body Which was basically a Mustang 2. Which again is NOW collectable or buildable and everyone wants them. I still love the Capri's from Europe because they were small light and always 4 speed's and the V6's they came with were fun and you could put a full set of race pistons in them high rise manifold four barrel carb and then blow the read r diff out right away from too much power LOL.

Such a shame when that happens. It can be for a number of reasons, usually sentimental or the belief that, one day, they will get around to it. Thing is, most cars become worth less with the passing of time, unless they are carefully stored.

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not a rare car, and not really a daily user, would have to keep it away from the salt roads and wet weather or would soon be a rust bucket, just like they was back in the day.🙂

I'd much rather get the car out and on the truck in one movement. When you start pushing them and shunting around they get covered in handprints etc and just look a mess.
Unwashed tells a story. Washed tells you nothing. Common place in every auction. Do not clean it! That’s what a trader would do. You can see the bodywork doesn’t look bashed about without the need to wash it.
