Back in the late 70s I had a 51 Chevy sedan delivery. It had been a volunteer fire department ambulance and still was fire engine red. 32000 original miles. I went through it with a small block, converted it to open drive and 12 volts. It's life was ended one rainy night by a drunk driver. She hit me so hard from the side that I could sit in the driver's seat and rest my arms on both doors. I miss that car, it was the first car that I bought and owned. If I had or could be out your way I would have been all over it. By the way, the clock winds up like a watch. The little knob at the bottom. The wire is for the light only. Cheers Terry

The car has a nice patina Silas, I've seen vintage vehicles that had theirs cleaned up a bit and then hit with a couple of coats of flat clear. I'd do the same to the 51. Make it mechanically healthy and safe again and have the interior redone and just cruise afterwards.

A good yard leaf blower can be used to blow out the RAT nest. I discovered it takes 20 min off vac out your car . Of course do this in an open field away from neighbors.

You mentioned the 235 was an overdrive engine. There was no overdrive in a Chevy in 1951. The 235 was used in front of a Powerglide. Just for everyone's information. The first overdrive transmission in a Chevy car was 1955.

Reminds me of when we washed my '66 Chevrolet Corvair Monza convertible, that had been in a garage for 23 years! My Corvair had good paint, and a beautiful condition top! So it was an amazing garage find, that cleaned up good! I had so many amazing memories with that Corvair Monza convertible! I only sold it because I bought an even nicer '65 Corvair Corsa convertible!

As you said, about as much as a man wants to spent on a flip rig... that said, you never over priced it on the resale and whom ever buys it will want to go the distance for fixing right. It would take longer to take it apart to fix up than putting back in order. My impression of overdrive standard transmissions of that era had many problems so many guys avoided them.... good idea getting your own tools to clean rigs up

If you get your own pressure washer Silas, keep in mind what ethanol can do to a carb that sits too long and make sure it's clear of water before the winter freeze. Thanks for showing us more of the 51, may it's new owner have great success! Stayin tuned! 🤠👍

Very solid car! Someone might be able to get that 216 going again. Since so many people are going with an LS, one can probably find another 6 cylinder or small block at a reasonable price. Guys want 10 grand for something like that here in Flori-duh.

I never could understand why someone would store such a vintage car as that Chevy in an old barn for years and years. Maybe the owner thought that one day he was going to get it running and restore it but it ended up sitting all those years. I would love to see it when it's restored.
