Barking Riverside Station Is Now Open
Visiting the brand new Barking Riverside station which is an extension of the London Overground GOBLIN (Gospel Oak - Barking Riverside Line) service.
Filmed on opening day (18th July 2022, sunny weather) and 22nd July (cloudy weather).
Unfortunately signalling problems in the Walthamstow area on the 18th saw train services on the entire route being temporarily suspended, so the train seen leaving the station at the end of the film was the last train (unknown to me at the time) and to leave the station I ended up having to travel on the EL1 buses, as also seen in the film.

Feels like an interesting year for London's public transport if the Elizabeth line opened and then this new station Barking Riverside.

There is a little more 'in build' that is likely to open this year 2022 - Bond Street station, through services on the Elizabeth line and Brent Cross West on the Thameslink service.
Barking Riverside is clean and peaceful. I hope it remains like this.

Thank you :-)
Nice views from the station at the moment. Won’t be long before the area is concreted over with yet more housing.

Its already 'in build'! I would wish for some trees and even parkland - perhaps in the form of a linear park with paths for pedestrians and cyclists but not road traffic (this should have its own segregated routes).
The Northern line extension opened in September 2021, the Bank station is the Northern line in new Southbound platform 3 which is the Bank station opening in Winter 2022, the Elizabeth line train which would be opened in Late May 2022 and finally London Overground extension to the Barking Riverside station will be opened in July 2022. That’s it.

Actually there will be more - Bond Street Elizabeth line, through running on the Elizabeth line and Brent Cross West on Thameslink.

@@CitytransportInfoplus No worries
It will interesting to see which shops are planned there. What demographic do they expect to live there? Waitrose/M&S, Sainsburys/Morrisons, or Lidl/Aldi?

I understand the question but am unsure of the likely demographic of this new area

@@eastlancsesteem, probably some local businesses and some US chains like the ones you’ve mentioned.
Can you walk from the Eastern exit to Fielder's crescent for the EL1 bus?

sorry but my knowledge of the area is so minimal that I do not know the local road names; what I can tell you however is that because the service was suspended whilst I was there on my first visit I was able to walk to an EL1 bus stop that was only a few minutes away - station staff advised me to leave the station and turn right several times (but I did not know road names).
Could see more London Overground stations reopening in London including Surrey Canal (New Bermondsey), Brixton, Loughborough Junction, Renwick Road, Hythe Road and Old Oak Common Road. And maybe London Overground to order few more Class 710s if necessary. And maybe London Overground could take over the West Ealing-Greenford branch line with new hybrid-battery trains to operate on. And of course Bond Street Elizabeth Line station to open some time later this year. Since the Elizabeth Line is now fully operational between Abbey Wood and Paddington.

If you mean the Brixton station served by the Overground, whilst desirable it is physically challenging as the tracks are high up on viaducts
